Trend line trader EA

Post by firesword »

Hi Steve, new guy here.
If I come across as an idiot, that's because most of the time I am :D .
I am not big on indicators and EAs, but a semi automatic EA would come in handy. It would basically give me an option to place a trend line on a chart, which I could name (BA,BB,SA and SB) and when the trend line is touched ( option 1) or passed by a number of pips (option 2) it would trigger a trade. Green line (colour optional) for buy with an option to buy above (BA) or buy below (BB) and red line ( again optional) with an option to sell below (SB) or sell above (SA) . Options on JS,TS ,SL an TP would be great. So there it is, if there is an EA already floating about that does what I just tried to explain, please point me in the right direction. Keep in mind that anything more complicated than what I just described will most likely molest my brain. Cheers.

Found something pretty close to it. Just ignore my post above. This thing does the trick. Attached. Trend lines rule!!! :D

here's the link to the page where you'll find info on how it works http://www.fxfisherman.com/forums/forex ... er-ea.html Cheers

Yes,I saw that Alex and at first looked OK but in the end it is not what I'm after. I only use trend lines and zigzag to determine the trend, any other indi on my chart is a no-no for me. OBV line is a bit too much for me  Thanks anyway.

Try reading your post from the point of view of someone who is not inside your head.

I haven't a clue what you are wittering about. Nor am I going to take the trouble to find out. I loathe long and dense paragraphs and cannot be bothered to read them.

Ok, so this is my weakness, but you have addressed your post to me. Sort your post into something readable and I just might read it.

:D
Read the effing manual, ok?

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

What I wanted was a semi automatic EA which allows me to draw trend lines on a chart and than it takes a trade once the line is broken .
I found pretty much what I needed in that "Trendmeleaveme" EA ( if one can call it that) attached to my original post. What is missing is TS and JS.

No worries Alex. Here it goes.

I am trading 5 minute time frame. TP is 10 pips SL is 10 pips.

First thing to do is to look at the hourly chart and determine the trend. For those with no eye - brain connection ( I'm one of them,by the way) I attached "multi trend signal" indi that tells us where the trend is traveling.

Once the hourly trend is determined we go down to 5 min chart and look for the trend in the opposite direction of the hourly trend. So, if the hourly trend is up,we look for the 5 min candle formations that are going down ( making lower bottoms and lower tops) .

Next thing we do is,we place the trend line on top of 5 min down trending candles and, since the hourly trend is up,we wait for the trend line to be broken in upward direction and instantly enter the trade.

We do the opposite for hourly down trend.

Another thing I forgot to mention, if you are going to use this strategy and use "TrademeLeaveme" EA for entering your trades, name the hourly trend line as "buystop" if the hourly trend is down, "sellstop" if the hourly trend is up. Do this in case the main trend line ,in this case hourly, is broken.
I do this in case the hourly has run out of steam. If I am in the trade, and it turns out to be a loser because the main trend has changed, than this scenario brings me back to break even for the trade lost.

I attached three charts of the trades I took last night Aussie time, each 10 pips profit. Most of you guys were just starting to trade then, and I was getting ready to go to bed.
I set my TP at 10, but as you will notice on the charts, the price likes to travels further. Don't be greedy, there are lot of trades to be taken on different pairs. To be even safer you can set your TP to 5 pips and double your usual lot size. Up to you. I usually have 3 to 4 trades running simultaneously and at 10 pips each it is not hard to get 100 pips daily trading for a few hours. The trades shown below were running at around the same time.

So there, it's probably all clear as mud, but what do you expect from an idiot :D The charts should explain more. Cheers.

Hehe. firesword, now you have explained it, I understand your post 1.

I came on to ask if SAFT;s little helper without OBV would be a help, but it looks as though AnotherBrian has this covered. Sing out else.

Thanks mobthehop and Steve.
I read AnotherBrians thread. I would say that "TrademeLeaveme" is much better and easier to use. It does what I want the EA to do. What is missing in "TrademeLeaveme" is jumping stop and trailing stop, for those of us that would like to have that option. Other than that, it's a perfect piece of machinery for my style of trading.
Thanks anyway. Cheers.
