I think the reason is that it will open a trade whenever the price(not the close) break the 5.1ma/ pivot and and rebounce back or just touch again the ma. In that sense, all the trades are opened too early and not confirmed by the close and will suffer a larger dd before the correction end or SL pips too far away. So I suggest is it possible to change the trigger method by limited to bar close, that is previous H4 candle close to cross the ma/pivot and trigger candle to close cross again the ma/pivot and entry at next bar?
The idea behind having the cross as the trigger is to have the market moving in your direction at the time of entry. I feel waiting for a close will not make much difference on a potential reversal and will reduce your profit on all trades because the entry will happen at a point further from the MA with the subsequent reduction of pips on every trade.
Observation is the path to discovery.

Maybe it is true.....but there is something different between when you enter a trade manully (u can feel the momentum) and the EA ( not sensible to market sentiment). So if I enter the trade at close, I may lose say 10-15pips but I can screen out more potential bad trades with wide SL as stated in the EA.....1 bad trade may need many good trades to recover....
Happy Trading

jasonckb,
thank you for the basket demo, its great to see different approaches for Alex's EA.here are two demos i'm running to see if there is a difference in running the charts on 1hr and on daily. They are on same criminal, ava, OOTB, and identical pairs. criminal type is ECN=true.

the surprise for me is Silver, no loss yet on both and that their appear to be no errors on lot sizing and adjusting tp's and sl's.

i'm probably going to go live with this one sooner than i anticipated.

thank you guys, :D :D wish i could be like you
Alex, you've taken this to a new level. Thank you again for your time and patience.
hope the links are informative.
my opinion on the links
- very little difference, but interesting and good to know
- I would'nt suggest running less than 1 hr charts.

I've been running the EA on all pairs in the last few days but noticed that the EA needs to be restarted from time to time to ensure that trades get triggered.

I came home from work today, closed the platform and re-opened straight away. A new trade was triggered as soon as the platform got restarted. This has happened to me twice. Has anyone else had the same problem?

I don't know why I got those lot size... 0.01 in the settings....
EDIT : RISK PERCENT = 2

Anyway, nice trades

BTW, I forgot to mention... I added 'long' ago some setting called RecoveryVirtualStop. It's job is for those who like me want to try nanningbob's recovery style.

I explain. Ordinarily, Risk Percent will be used to calculate lot size based on the current stop. The current stop could differ because the bot calculates stops based on pivot lines if no stop is explicitly set.

Now, I want to start recovery (manual entry) at min 100 pips dead, but I want to use a REAL emergency stop at 200 pips. In the usual case of lots from risk percent, I will get lot size calculated from the real stop of 200 pips.

I don't want that and neither do I want a fixed lot size and there is where RecoveryVirtualStop comes in. If set to anything other than zero, it will be the basis used to calc lot size from the Risk Percentage.

You have to set it to zero to use the real stop (either explicit or calculated from pivot lines) as basis for lot size calculation from the Risk Percent. It's your call.

I hope I explained that well enough but futher clarification is available where that came from :)

In other news, we are going to add automajic entry of recovery trades (at least up to some level) for those who love them. The idea is boiling... we will see. Personally, I find recovery trading suits my personality very well and helps me gain experience with less frustration. That I believe is the real philosophy behind nanningbob's recovery.

Kind Regards,

Alex
Alex,
The problem I had with setting lots size to 0 is that every time I switch to another time frame, the EA will show an alarm that lots size has been adjusted to 0.01. The EA still calculates the lots size base on 1%. It is just annoying to have to acknowledge the alarm every time I change TF.

Looking forward to the new version of automatic recovery trades. Sounds great to me.

Thanks in advance.

Just change the lot size to 0.01 and let your risk setting @1% and it will do the job no ??
