I understand the EA only uses the D1 and H4 Slopes, and the Daily, Weekly and Monthly Pivots...cuzgeorge wrote: - I would'nt suggest running less than 1 hr charts.
So, the timeframe of the chart the EA is attached to should only impact the value of the 5.1 MA and the Bollinger Bands (if you are using the BB range-trading mode), right?
Are those the reasons for the differences between your H1 and H4 instances, George?

Alex,
For the bottom line not really
But if someone use it on live I can just assume he used it on demo for sometime to be sure it will not drain it's live account....

I'm still running on my demo and I'm glad it's only on my demo. There is a fair bit to learn and I rather do the learning without losing real money.

I know what you mean... I was with NB early trade methods , used them on demo then on realAPQN wrote:Hi talr,talr wrote:For the bottom line not really![]()

and lost it all
I was more then glad to see Alex taking the manual system and put it into Auto one.... but it seems that while there is no 100% success still some manual work should be done since the EA got into long loosing trades... ( I'll cut the SL pips in half to 100 first of all)...
Glad to be back....

Hey Alex Forex, i forgot i had another one running on 4HR. It was the first and second time i ever had a BB trades, one on gold and eurcad. both profitable. Check the screenshots for the closed positions.
i'm still on v1.1 here and will update shortly, but here's the link for the record.

yes, i believe thats how the indis are read. I have OOTB settings which by default has all the trade methods on. I think pivots are weekly though.
I cannot say why there is a small difference in the trades. I was curious to see if there would be a one, and why i've only ever had 2 BB trades on v1.1 and not again since. ? i'm sure the setup has'nt arrived since for the ea to take the trade, but i know this ea works.
in the passed, (other ea's) I often would get what happened to APQN, where the Empty4 would need a restart, or reboot the computer.
I read that DietCoke does that too every morning at 10-30 local time for him, to prevent memory leak.
the reason i ran the two side by side, was to see if Empty4 would have any identical errors at the same time. This would tell me there is a code error somewhere as i like to troubleshoot and see if i can find a fix. good way to learn. this has not happened yet, it's still early days, but so far, this ea seems to be clean as a whistle.
Al3xx would be best to answer or confirm how the indis are read. I get very confused trying to 'track' the code but i can deduce from this;
Code: Select all
void ReadIndicatorValues()
{
//Called at the open of each M1 candle
//Slope
D1SlopeVal = GetSlope(PERIOD_D1, 0);
D1SlopeTrend = ranging;
if (D1SlopeVal >= 0.4) D1SlopeTrend = buyonly;
if (D1SlopeVal <= -0.4) D1SlopeTrend = sellonly;
if (D1SlopeVal >= 0.8) D1SlopeTrend = buyhold;
if (D1SlopeVal <= -0.8) D1SlopeTrend = sellhold;
//Calculate the angle
static datetime OldD1BarTime;//Use this further down as well, so reset at the end of the function
if (OldD1BarTime != iTime(NULL, PERIOD_D1, 0))
{
PrevD1SlopeVal = GetSlope(PERIOD_D1, 1);
}//if (OldD1BarTime != iTime(NULL, PERIOD_D1, 0)
D1SlopeAngle = unchanged;
if (D1SlopeVal > PrevD1SlopeVal) D1SlopeAngle = rising;
if (D1SlopeVal < PrevD1SlopeVal) D1SlopeAngle = falling;
if (LowerTimeFrame != PERIOD_D1)
{
LtfSlopeVal = GetSlope(LowerTimeFrame, 0);
LtfSlopeTrend = ranging;
if (LtfSlopeVal >= 0.4) LtfSlopeTrend = buyonly;
if (LtfSlopeVal <= -0.4) LtfSlopeTrend = sellonly;
if (LtfSlopeVal >= 0.8) LtfSlopeTrend = buyhold;
if (LtfSlopeVal <= -0.8) LtfSlopeTrend = sellhold;
static datetime OldChartBarTime;
if (OldChartBarTime != iTime(NULL, LowerTimeFrame, 0))
{
PrevLtfSlopeVal = GetSlope(LowerTimeFrame, 1);
}//if (OldChartBarTime != iTime(NULL, PERIOD_Chart, 0)
LtfSlopeAngle = unchanged;
if (LtfSlopeVal > PrevLtfSlopeVal) LtfSlopeAngle = rising;
if (LtfSlopeVal < PrevLtfSlopeVal) LtfSlopeAngle = falling;
}//if (Period() != PERIOD_D1)
//Calculate the angle
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
//Woh trend
D1WohVal = GetWoh(PERIOD_D1, 0);
if (OldD1BarTime != iTime(NULL, PERIOD_D1, 0))this tells me that the chart i'm using stands for the '0'. i cant find in the code where '0' becomes (? -which TF) , so i try run my demos to deduce what happens, which helps to 'read' the code. Still learning, but getting there.
I think the Pivots come from the weekly TF;
Code: Select all
//Pivots. Calculate at the start of each week
static datetime OldPivotBarTime;
if (OldPivotBarTime != iTime(NULL, PERIOD_W1, 0) )
{
OldPivotBarTime = iTime(NULL, PERIOD_W1, 0);
CalculatePivots();
}//if (OldPivotBarTime != iTime(NULL, PERIOD_W1, 0) )If anything, its impossible for al3xx to know what could happen in every scenario, and i like to help by doing these tests. Something i find insignificant, can mean something completely different to al3xx and Steve.
Hope my response does'nt confuse. trying to answer as clearly as i can and with my logic behind all the testing.

Hi Cuzgeorge, I'd like just to notify you an error in your EA setups. You put ECN= True with AVAFX account, and this broker is not ECN but market maker. So ECN should be = Falsecuzgeorge wrote:jasonckb,
thank you for the basket demo, its great to see different approaches for Alex's EA.here are two demos i'm running to see if there is a difference in running the charts on 1hr and on daily. They are on same criminal, ava, OOTB, and identical pairs. criminal type is ECN=true.
