Balss, just closed a eurusd as the euro peaked, perfect timing for a huge Tp win. I have two losses from before at SL. no interference from me and OOTB settings except i'm ECN.

HiArt , Vivaldi, great spot on the ecn part of the code. It did the job for me.

I have'nt tried the Slope yet on this, petrified of the lot sizes (even on demo), waiting to see winsteadglenn and wolfemans results here.

I have set up a second demo with Steves opening times and pairs, will post both the myfxbook links shortly.

Well, my setup is acting like a politician--sitting there looking buzy, but nothing gets done! No trades, no errors, nuthin....I have another EA on the same plat that is working, so it's nothing like that.

The slope values are reporting correctly, it just won't do anything. I did notice that the stoch readings in the chart comments don't match the data window. The data window reports slightly lower readings; I don't know that it's enough to make a difference though. Frustrating this is...IF it were trading as it should, I would have had four wins in the last two days. A 60% increase in two days would feel good right about now. I think tonight I will set it up with the line just to make sure I'm not overlooking anything.

George, would you mind posting you set file for comparison?

this one is from the eurgbp, set to draw the line at 8. its oOTB and should have no difference, but it does trade.
i also seemed to be getting nothing out of the ea until the v1f.
vivaldi and hiart seemed to nail it because of the ecn thingy, strange thing is the ea started trading as it should after that, but only then i realise i'm supposed to be false for ecn. should'nt have really have made a problem of it, but you never know.

Thanks for that george, I used it and I did get a trade. I also learned that my demo account does not have enough leverage (100:1) to sustain trades of this size; something that hadn't occured to me. When the EA takes a 1.05 lot trade on an account with 1450.00 in it, it seems that if the first tick goes the wrong way that trade closes immediately. That's a real bummer as this trade was a perfect entry and would have closed in profit 10 minutes later.

I never trade with margin this thin, so I don't really know how it all goes down in this situation, when the plat will close the trade and whatnot. When this trade closed, I opened another manually and it closed right away too. Just a few minutes ago (some 8 hours later) I opend yet another at the same lotsize and it's still open and down over 40.00. So, why would a $40 loss still be open with less money in the account when a -$20 closed immediately when the account has more money? I mean, $20 is just the spread...curious thing- I hope this doesn't get me the stupid question of the day award from Steve...

I drew the line (and renamed it) a few minutes before the London open, and the EA must have deleted it at open time- it was there, I swear! Come trade time, the EA is going "Buggerall" and determined bias on slope?(see pic) I will note that setting the inputs to "disable line use" produced no trades prior to tonight. So it SEEMS that the way to get this to trade using slope for bias is to leave "disable line use" false and just don't draw the line...

Another interesting tidbit- about 45 minutes after that beautiful entry closed out, the European low line moved itself, and then changed the bias to short-what the heck is that about? (Pic attached)
Steve's PDF says: Once the ea has traded, it deletes the low line and cannot trade further until it draws a new one at market open the following day. Is the EA supposed to draw the next line itself, or was that a typo and we are to draw the line ourself? I just assumed that I am to draw the line myself each night...More things to understand-

I am quite excited to see this EA- or my understanding of it, reach it's peak.

My next steps here will be to open two more demos, with higher leverage. One for an OOTB setup, another to try and get this puppy trading with slope bias (no line), as I think that will be better.

What risk level are you using? If you're running 5% risk, that means you can only lose 5% * 1450 = $72.50. With 1.05 lot that's about 7 pips in most pairs. You should be able to take about 7 pips against you before it closes.

I have resolved the problem i had with the ea, the problem is my demo account with alpari.
i open a demo account with fxpro and i had 2 trades a eurusd and a gbpusd, i closed them early for they had a 90 and 60 pip target.
this is way to big for paulus "1 minute 1 trade" system. but they were both winners though. lol

here are some pics of the two terminals i'm running. I had a blast with this ea, i cant say i'd run the damn thing live but it sure makes a difference seeing these huge numbers on the charts.
anyways,
I have reverted to the OOTB settings for this week to keep to Paulus' direction and now that we have jts sorted and trading with us, we should be able to get some morer results next week.

I'm happy to hear what you guys are going to demo, so i'm going to keep OOTB except i'd really like to see the winners stay winners and not turn into losers. this i noticed so i'm going to add one thing here, one jumping stop point at, lets say 50 pips. My accounts would have looked much better tonight if i had BE of a jumper in place.

i intend to throw MPTM in next week after we see how the JS works out.

Let me know if you guys think i'm overdoing it on the 50 JS, my thought here is to let the movement breathe in-case of a whipsaw. i'm open to tighter JS's but 50 seems okay for now, keeping the 200 as TP. thats it for changes for me, i like it, and i think this one is going to be a winner.

have no idea why your position is closing either, i had something similar with MPTM once when i was still learning to use the ea.
i also had another interfere with another ea i had purchased. That ea was The Beast. He just owns anything , with or with out a magic number, are you only running this ea on the terminal with the closing $20 position?

i cant remember where, but it may have been in the SAFT ea, Steve wanted us to draw our own line, and typically , i dont think two of us drew it the same, , so i'm happy to let ol Balls figure it out for us. Steve had mentioned somewhere if you wanted to turn it off and draw the line yourself, but it's been a crazy week and it slips my mind where and when this was written.

As for your yellow line re-occurring, havent a clue here. I have'nt seen this happen and i cant say i'm stuck on the charts all day, but i do check up a lot. (you have'nt got two Balls ea's on the same charts open do you? check your pic, the one with only eurusd charts showing the new line)

I know not to put this on too many charts, i've gone to a max of 3 different pairs for a 100k 1:400 leverage account.

My live accounts are also leveradged like this, and i like it like that.
i dont want this 1:50 stuff, very very expensive to trade with those accounts so i prefer the largest i can get. This now explains my 6 blown accounts thats the negative to high leveradge.

we know the different criminals have different results. formatix has'nt had good results and his indication on the use of slope is interesting. I cant say as i have'nt tried it, so lets see with the new week what happens with Slope.

The slam-dunk trade closing was my fault technically. I forgot that I had a small .10 trade open at the time. It was in profit but I guess not enough to cover the margin requirements. So you may bitch slap me now, or let steve do it when he returns.

So my only real question is the line thingy. I hope steve will be able to take a moment and review the code and tell us exactly how to:
1. use this with slope bias only
2. Clarify my line movement anomaly..is the EA supposed to move the line itself, and just did it wrong in this case?
3. Is the user supposed to draw a new line every day? Reading the PDF, it sounds like I draw it once and the EA will reset it daily. Can I draw the line a few minutes before london open? It looks like I must do it after the open.

Last night was a great example of why I feel the slope will ultimately give us the proper bias. The difference between Euro open and London was about 2 pips. That's not bias, that's noise. It's also not unusual at all. I'm gonna bore you guys some more and re-post something I wrote and deleted a few days ago. I had witten it before I had read the entire thread (shame on me )

If I may, I would like to drop in a few observations that may help here. I have been following paulus thread at FF since it started...the real brilliance is the MM or RR and the weak link is the bias.

For starters everyone is up in arms about the bias and for good reason. For example, the biggest sourse of confusion (beyond the noob..duh, what time is it? sort) is where paulus (and I say this with all due respect) says he takes his bias one hour before London, yet posts charts showing his bias is determined starting one hour before Frankfurt. That makes it a two hour window. This, to my knowledge was never cleared up. Add to this the fact that many trades (both good and bad) are determined with a bias of just a few pips and you have a thread that is consumed with entry questions.

There have been a few offshoot threads at FF using the paulus methods with no bias at all, and they are successful also. When I first started reading this thread, slopey fractals came to mind. The entry method is basically the same thing with better bias- I think Glen hit the nail on the head when he requested bias to be determined by slope rather than the line thingy. Anyone that trades this time of day knows that the London open and resulting price chaos is affected by far more than what the first hour of the Frankfurt market had in mind.

IMHO. the 5M slope will be better for determining bias...use the paulus 1M indi setup and entry...but no 5M slope, no deal. That would mean many times the trades will be triggered much later in the session which is fine with me. Let the London traders duke it out for a while and the slope can decide who wins.

V 1g is in post 1. This fixes the bug that stopped Balls from trading if the line is disabled and you use Slope instead. The bug was a simple matter of LUC inviting his pals around for a light lunch.

Those of you who can, go to void LookForTradingOpportunities() and find this line of code - the first line of code in the function, following the first comment:

Want a laugh at my expense? I searched high and low for the bug yesterday. I must have spent a couple of hours trying to track it down. I gave up in the end. I returned to it this morning, and found the bloop straight away. Hey-ho.

Thoughts about the stop loss. I simply left Balls to its own devices last week, cheerfully losing money. As someone stated earlier, some of the sl's can be a bit on the high side for an M1 traders.

Shall I add a MaxStopLoss input to allow us to limit the stop size?

thank you for the revision, i am happy with Paulus' ratio and my SL's were with-in reason and expected. The ratio allows for a loss but still seems a very good strategy going forward. My issue is that i WAS in profit before i got stopped out. kudus for picking this one up.

I think it would'nt be a bad idea to include an extern here for the SL, but i'm going to test with a JS of 50 pips for next week as mentioned before.

Re: max stops- My personal thought is that if the fractal is too far away, no trade. Just limiting the stop in a live trade if/when the fractal is too far away would be changing the strategy and eliminating the fractal all together, inviting losses.

Though, I'm not sure if we'll ever see a fractal that's too far away on a 1M chart. I will look into that. I don't recall seeing one more that say, 10 pips away.

What I'll be looking at going forward will be how far the trade moved forward before a retrace stopped it out. I'm thinking a BE at say, 10 might be a smart thing to implement.

Hi Guys,

The EA is working but only once i place a lowline manually.

The main problem i seem to have is the EA is placing a huge sl and a huge tl, from what i understand that is not what paulus had in mind for this system.

The open of the euro to the open of the london gives the direction of the trade by drawing a trendline. and the lowline is placed at or a few pips away from the lowest swing in that time period.
If the direction is long then once the macd goes into a retrace and goes long again before it reaches the lowline that is when the trade is taken.
If the lowline is broken then we will be looking for a short trade. The sl is the lowline and the 5% of the capital in your account is calculated from the lowline to the trade entry and the tl is 3 x the pip value of the sl and the trade entry.

Some times the pips are very low between the sl and the trade entry (it can be 3 pips but then the tl will only be 9 pips for a 15% profit)

The main thing about this type of trading is the 1:3 sl to tl ratio. thats why paulus is not worried about the losses.

This is how i believe Paulus's system is suppose to be. (I am sure if i am not correct someone will correct me)
