Gday: a D1 Stochastic OB/OS trading robot

This sounds really encouraging - thanks for all your hard work fxozgirl. I have always been keen on stochastic, but one has to get to know its behaviour quirks in trending and ranging markets. If this proves itself, it would be good to see what type of market it performs best in, and try and match it to the right pairs to improve probablity. Also, if it works out, it ought to trade well in other markets such as some of the highly traded indices. All in good time eh ...

Hi Shelley aka FXozgirl,
thought you might like to see this. I consider my start very lucky, i had risk on before i realised , changed to a fixed lot size and let Gday do the rest with the already open trades. They all closed in profit, i've had a few since then from the Hanover module, but generally , i did'nt like the performance i got across all the EA's i tried with Hanover, so dropped it all this week -end.

Here's a link with where i am with Gday. It looks great so far and going to stay with your original settings, except for stoch, i'm following you on 7,2,2 and i've left the 20 bar lookback on apart from GBPJPY, i changed that to 0.

The fxbook thingy has a small description of the settings, i have MPTM on only to catch what Gday might miss. i always use BE and JS.

Completely agree with your observations regarding the stochastic. I am trading on all pairs now in order to try and identify the best pairs moving forward

Regarding the 20 day lookback, it might turn out that this is better, who knows???
but my original thought was to 1. lock in some profit by closing first part of trade and moving to BE and 2. try to catch a run with the rest

Also, I agree about pruning some of the code, especially the trend direction stuff.

When I came to do said pruning, I found that everything led to everything else and that everything was entangled. I could not delete this bit here without deleting a line and a half there (and you haven't lived until you have to work out which half to leave in place), which led to deleting 6 thousand lines of code there, which led to................ I gave up after 10 minutes.

That is before I came across StrictDisciplinarianShelley and ChillOutShelley. What the blue blazes were they all about? Are you a strict disciplinarian? If so, how much do you charge? Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Ok, so i know I coded this bot, but that was back in the days of goodness-knows-when. No idea how many I have coded in between, but I have coded three since Friday, so on that basis, there must have been a few. The point I am making here is: I have not a clue how the bot in post 1 trades.

Yep, I could simply go back to post one and start again, but a fiver bets that you have refined your ideas since then. So, how about putting your trading strategy into a pm to me, or posted here, and we can start again with all the refinements that the professional programmers have helped me add to my coding in between then and now?
