Can I bother someone to just send alert ONLY (I want to enter the position manually if I could so I can monitor). Thanks a lot... I like pivots because it doesn;t change with TF. So all traders watch the same line and avoid misinterpretation :)
V 1b is in post 1. Look for the "----Email thingies----" inputs.

Hi AGT, all,
I'm making some changes to pivoty as i have gathered enough results to see where this EA is headed.

Firstly, I am staying with v1a as i dont need the email thingies that Steve added. I compared the ea's and there is no difference except for this email addition.

Most closed positions are winners, but DD has built up and is now needing attention.
The positive side to this, is the DD is less than the winners.
The negative is that i need to intervene manually.

We have the option of MPTM but based on the extent of the winners and how far the losers have moved, i am wary of bringing MPTM here because Pivoty is not a compulsive position taker.
Therefore MPTM will hedge and look for a short , quick profit, at a larger hedge lot position,400%, to try and make up for the loss.
I'm also going to attempt Steve's experimental options for MPTM to look for a direction before taking the hedge position. In the past, i have noticed MPTM locks up when using these options and the terminal needs a re-boot. I have accepted that there are faults in the world of Empty4 and already reboot almost on a daily basis anyways, so this will unlock MPTM if there is something jamming him.
The positive is getting a quick end to a bad position, the negative is if the hedge starts to take a move in the wrong direction. We'll see how this works out.

I'm happy to manually close a losing position from now on, and i will do this at close on friday preferably, unless i know something is coming up in the news that will help my position.

I'm not adding hedge SL or TP, just a hedge based on MPTM's direction, not the losing position.
I know the hedge is linked to the commented position so i will manually look to close them both out when i'm comfy with a small win or small loss.
I use a combination of Slowkeys manual trading system , NB's 10.2 with incorporated Baluda and Neotraders Indi's.
Attached is a basic set file. I change pip values depending on the spread of the traded pair and volatility. I also trade anything slope on 1HR charts. Dont forget to check the 'comments' section to make your own changes.
Attached is also a pic of my trading screen , but not showing is slope values from Baluda and Neotraders indi which i run on the dollar index chart because we all know the dollar index affects everything. These 3 together work like magic. The attached pic is the final confirmation for taking a manual position.

Good luck all and hope to see some good results here in a week or two.

Hi Steve,all.
Need some help here if anyone has the time please.

I tried to sort this out myself by comparing other EA's of yours to Pivoty, and trying a copy/paste routine in the trade management section of Pivoty, but no luck.

Set file included, with your DAY cross to 'false' as explained in your post 1 that it kills trading stone dead if set to 'true'. (I have changed this in the meantime as explained below.)

The pics below are from the trading screen showing a profitable trade. The trade has since gone negative and the alert has now stopped coming up.

The trade exit i'm using is simple, JS and let it run as far as it can and then will get stoplossed when the trade retraces. So far successfully and link to fx book thingy on post. Been trading this since sept 9 and a decent profit with 0.1 lots.

Image

if you look at the error picture with the experts tab showing, you'll notice it's Pivoty thats throwing up the alert.

If you look at the next picture with the open trades showing, you'll see it's a hedged position from MPTM.

Why is Pivoty trying to control an MPTM position.? Nothing in the settings allows for this, in both Pivoty or MPTM.

I have since removed all trade management settings from Pivoty and thrown the identical set over onto MPTM. I did'nt want to do this because this is a successfull set so far and MPTM was only supposed to hedge for a quick JAB profit, in and out quickly as i noticed Pivoty allows for that 'space' before a retrace kicks in. Basically DD can get out of hand if you noticed my open positions are in the crap.
Another negative doing this is that a higher spread pair cannot/should not have the same BE and JS settings.

any ideas guys?

Hope i'm not being a nuisance, and if so, please dont tell me so, just ignore.
thanks
George

I cannot remember off hand if mptm hedges with the same magic number as the trade it is hedging.

If it does, then Pivoty is going to think it owns the trade and will try to manage it as you have breakeven and jumping stop both enabled. Hover your mouse over the hedge trade ticket number and see if it has a magic number.

Spot on Steve,
MPTM is using a magic of '1' across all its hedged positions regardless of pair.
I was already using '1' on eurusd and 2 for... and 3 for... and so on.

I've changed eurusd to '100', lets see what happens. will slowly start changing all magic across platforms to something more elaborate.

Strangely, MPTM had a magic number of '1' in the setting field but i have 'managebymagicnumber' set to 'false'.
will monitor closely when the next hedge trade takes place.
restarted platform after changes.

Thank You Steve.

And I thought I knew Empty4! Thanks for this tip -- I wrote a stupid script yesterday to verify that the comments and the magic numbers matched. Hovering would have been faster.

Oh no George. Trust me; if there is a vowel in the month, the mouse hover feature will fail at random intervals programmed in by the clowns who wrote the damn platform.

Tell you where the bastards have been really clever though. It will only fail at the very moment you really need it.

I used to think this stuff was written by useless 16 year old GCSE Computer Studies students with a desire to fail their exam. Actually, it seems it was written by really clever 16 year old GCSE Computer Studies students with a really nasty sense of humour, who don't care about passing the exam.

Hmmmmm. I suspect I might not be in the best of all possible moods tonight. Better avoid coding anything.

George, you might bear in mind that: mptm was my first foray into published coding; I learn computer languages by sitting down at the console with a problem that I want to solve and hacking code until something works.

Give that last a few seconds to sink in. Shuddering yet? You should be.

Then you might consider that most of my mptm code comes from a time before I became Mr Ea Coder and was intended for managing manual trades. I am fairly sure the hedging code derives from this period.

So, given that my ea's come with basic mptm functionality, and that mptm is really intended to work with manual trades, anyone here prepared to bet a fiver that there will not be the occasional moment of confusion when the two are mixed?

Anyone here acquainted with the term, "Masterly British Understatement" or words to that effect? This applies to my preceding paragraph.

Hey Steve,
here come the South African Overstatements on Pivoty Slope 8-) and you'll 'flip your lid' when you see how well this devil has been performing. (WITH MPTM). ;)
FXpagethingy is busy with maintenance, probably overloaded by me, :D :D :D , but will have this up and going as soon as they sort themselves out, on a new demo, clean slate.

Here is a pic of the results and still open positions from a demo i stole from gday. This is worth a look and nothing done by me except tinkering with your allowed settings.

Remember, The losses or DD in the open positions are from before i introduced Pivoty to MPTM. They seems a match made in heaven as with anything i seem to throw your famed MPTM baby.

Enjoy all,
cuzgeorge
