Thank you for your prompt response - I am also sure some sharp minds will catch on to this - This has been one of my favorite indicators since it came out. The improvement you explain would really be an exciting addition.

I have been looking at the numbers than going to the charts to see how they hold up. They do tell you about the chart but they are not good to use to compare one currency movement to another if you want to know where the most volatility is because of the point you have just made. What would be good would be the power number calibrated to the actual pips so that a fractional pip movement of 1 pip on EUR/USD produced the same amount of power movement on any other currency when there was a fractional 1 pip move.
We would still see the nice sort and strength of say AUD over USD etc but the numbers would have real trading significance. The movement would be actually fractional just as the chart represents. The dash board would not just be sorting its self by what quote or base was weak or strong but by real power too. Obviously you would be seeing some of the more volatile currencies making the bigger gains. .....
Your comments of an additional significant information to the actual dashboard, are very pertinent. And I remember that I have read in Forexfactory CICR forum (Currency index cross referencing) they were using some interesting concepts like,
- pips gain/loss for each of the 8 major currency on Monthly, Weekly and Daily basis : (The difference between actual price and the Open Price in D-W-M candles). Then trade the strongest 2 or 3 currencies (with highest pips gain in DWM , or at least in DW) against the weakest 2 or 3 currencies (with highest pips loss in DWM , or at least in DW)
But back to your idea about the calibration of the power number, I think we could link to it, another ideas :
At his first times, CICR moderator was suggesting for his method a Multicurrency Range analyzer a commercial indicator (marketed by fxalgotrader and believe me I'm not promoting anything here).
So Range Analyzer has the purpose to give which pairs are most active in the market, showing 2 interesting informations:
- Real time range histograms expressed as a percentage of ATR and number of pips left ,
- The momentum of the pair: Average High/Low change Frequency over the 5 last periods, and Number of Highs/Lows per Hour.
But please take a look at this presentation page indicator, maybe it could be inspiring to enrich this promising dashboard.
