Here's an ej trade entry that other systems may not take. Notice its high edge as a result of the early entry before the move.

For instance: H1,H4,D1 or even lower M15,M30,H1.

Just curious!
Hi glabbeek,

We could but higher TF behaviour drives lower TF behaviour (doesn't work the other way round) so it is critical to know what is going on on higher timeframes.

However, as pivots lag notoriously, we need to look for emerging signals in order to trade with what market is doing now not what it did before ...that is why I'm posting this here first so we can get an indy or ea to help alert us to exit a move as it peaks or enter as a new formation emerges.

Cheers,

CC

The funny thing is that I believe that it is that other way around. I think the lower timeframes drive the higher. A new direction always start in a lower timeframe and builds it's way up to the higher timeframes. The higher timeframes are therefore more lagging than lower timeframes. On the other hand, I do agree with you the it's best to trade with the prevailing trend! (of higher timeframes).

I'm just wondering that if you want to trade 1 minute charts, if monthly pivots is the way to go. It's probably best to get this EA programmed and just try. For hardcore coders it won't be a problem, but for me coding takes very long is and trail and error. Therefore I know that you can save a lot of time thinking and rethinking your strategy before wasting a lot of time programming.

The key is in finding a lower timeframe which isn't perceptible for noise like news events or large investors moving the market..

A gc trade entry and exit using 10.2a cts in a D1 ranging market that yields 400pips+ and an edge of >5!!!

The system takes 3 trade opportunities yielding 150+200+150=500+pips! At a time that other systems will keep you out of the "ranging" market, that's not too bad, eh? :D
Hello CC,

I must first congratulate you for your hard work in putting this system together.

Some time after creating the Extreme TMA system, I started developing a way to merge Extreme TMA with Bob´s fantastic 10.2A system. My result so far is very close to yours. I also use <0.8 for shorts and > -0.8 for longs as well as the Fast TMA bands and Semaphor for confirmation. The only substantial difference is that I use Recovery instead of SL for the rare occurrence where Recovery is needed and my exits are somewhat different, since I don´t have a preset exit target. Instead I monitor lower time frames for loss of momentum of the move and divergences to signal exit.

Overall, I consider this to be a great effort which I can vouch for. I am confident it is a solid and profitable system. I will follow this thread closely. Thanks again.

Alfredo

You are actually correct! We both are. The higher TF is the driver while changes reflect faster on lower TFs (which is why lower TF trading needs to keep an eye on the higher TFs).

I am yet to test the system below H1 but the principles should hold, though more discipline will be required to stay with the system as more lower Tf highs/lows are hit along the way. H1 offers 4x the oscillations of H4 that 10.2A trades on, so it is already an order of magnitude of increase in profit opportunities.

I doubt if there is any Tf or pair that isnt perceptible to noise as the 8 main currencies that form most of the pairs are covered in-depth by the financial media.

Thanks, Alfredo! I am humbled as I follow your work very closely too. With you on-board, we may just be heading towards an "everytime profitable" system. I use SL as an edge is key to the system (and my account too :D )

Hey CC,

Don't know if this would be of any help, but I modded DWMPivots to show lower TF pivots (down to the 5min pivot).

Have a play with it on an hourly chart, and watch the 4H pivot for a while ;)

Have fun!

Hi Radar,

Thanks for sharing. I'll definitely check it out to see if it helps.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit:
I'm afraid I didnt see much value the lower TF pivots could add as price action tells us precisely what price is doing now and the pivots approximated it closely. However, since someone else may be able to come up with how they can be used, I will update the template with your "all-TF pivots" version
