MPTM's new home

Hi Steve, all,
I was wondering about a problem i sometimes have with MPTM. Here's the scenario;

For some reason after a long stretch of trading, i notice that MPTM was supposed to have taken a hedge position on a losing trade, but did'nt.

when i re-start the platform or change time frames, MPTM kicks in and does what it's set to do, usually with a plethora of trades as i'd noticed the losses late.

I cant find what is causing this but wanted to ask about the chart i'm using.
I like to run MPTM on the dollar index chart that sometimes does not move. I.E there are no ticks coming to the chart. Typically after US session is closed.

Does anyone know if this could be the reason why those hedge trades never get placed? is it common on Empty4 or just a bug?

George, what happens when someone is absolutely determined to test a thingy to destrucion is this: said thingy gets destroyed.

mptm is a Forex trade manager designed to run on a forex chart - i.e. GJ, GU, EU etc. Not FucOff, BogOff, or PisOff etc

In theory, it should not matter that you are running mptm on a chart that stops receiving ticks for years on end. Fact is, mptm was not intended to run on these charts, so if you insist on running it on one of them, then you only have yourself to blame when it stops working.

I am a developer. As a developer I can promise you this with absolute certainty: it is impossible to cater for every possible eventuality that every user invents to derail the software. The biggest mistake the coders of Crapdows make is to claim that this is possible. Well, that and coding crap.

great program, a true work of art.

Have an obstacle if you'd be kind enough to put me straight. I use the instant trailing feature and also the partial close. The scenario is to instant trail by 50 pips and partial close at +25 (half the trade)

But using the setting BE pips (to enable PC) I have to set a +ve value for bep which would break my instant trail setting. Any setting unless my BE is bigger than the instant trail SL setting would mess it up.

Would/can I use a negative number, which I know sounds crazy because the word is BE, break even, but I wouldn't be breaking even if that makes sense. I want to preserve the trailing stop from the first trade or should I also be enabling the trailing SL feature to manage from +ve value (which I haven't so far because i thought there may be conflict in the two SL modules operating together.

Hi Steve and other traders using MPTM.

I am using MPTM by adding a Missing Stop Loss and a Missing Take Profit. I was trying to use ATR with Missing Take Profit and I started to find it very strange that it always seemed to choose around 50 pips... until I realized that it was actually using my default 50 pips. So, it was obvious that "MissingTakeProfit" was not working when using ATR.

After some digging I found out that in the function:

void InsertTakeProfit()

there were several misnamed variables, probably because of a copy/paste from "void InsertStopLoss()".

So, in "void InsertTakeProfit()" , all "UseSlAtr" conditions should be changed to verify "UseTpAtr" instead.

Hello, first of all I wanted to say that this EA is very useful, thanks.
I am customer at Cowboy Go Markets and AxiTrader.
It works well on Cowboy Go Markets.

I tried installing it on AxiTrader, which has 5 digits, I have set the Take Profit to 50 (pips), and on the charts it displays "Take profit = 500 pips".
Why 500? 500 points maybe.

Also, I don't really understand the difference between

HideStopLossEnabled: set this to 'true' to turn on this feature.
HiddenStopLossPips: the number of pips you want for your actual stop.

and

AddMissingStopLoss: set this to 'true' to use this function.
MissingStopLossPips: the Stop Loss in pips.

hi guys.. any suggestion how i must set my mptm if i want this condition, coz im doin scalping but sometimes i want my jumping stoploss maximize my profit:
my minimal profit is 12 pip (BE profit =12).
so my BE pip must be 32 right? bcoz my fxbroker set limit is 20pip from running price..
but, sometimes its never hit 32 pips.. so i lose my 12 pip.. then hit my stoploss..
can someone help me with this?

If your dealer's minimum exit level is +/-20 pips from your entry, then your minimum BE pips (trigger) would be 20 and your minimum BE profit would also be 20. If you actually used 20 for both settings, the BE would trigger immediately (effectively operating as a TP). So BE profit 20 and say, BE pips 25 might be more suitable.

For JS, just set at 20 and don't AddBEP--but do JumpAfterBreakEvenOnly.

Read the manual on post 1.

Hi Guys,

I have attached mptm to some charts this morning, everything is looking good, journal says good, but no screen comments are being displayed.

Does anyone know if this means it's not working?
I have attached a screenshot and set file in case anything jumps out at someone...the other weird thing is I have another instance of mptm attached to another chart (with different settings) and screen comments are displaying ok!
