Hey Guys,
turn down the risk, or stick to lots.
Play with the settings, find whats best for the present market, and when the markets turn in favour, your winnings will be higher, for sure. This is what demoing is all about. You'll know how to trade with EA's.
Any EA is never supposed to be left unattended. Check every post 1 you can find and Steve clearly mentions this. SOme need to be taken off for a while and put back on when the markets are trending, or ranging. Some are no good, but there's no way Paul and Alex's versions can be discounted. They are far better than where they were just a few weeks ago. Slow down, they'll be profitable, just learn how to use them.
If you stop testing, we'll never know how the EA fits into the market and all the time researching and coding would be wasted.

EDITED
I had 10.2a on default (so 2% risk) but 10.2 was on 1%. I appreciate what you are saying about testing settings and not leaving EAs unattended. I can't help feeling there is something more than tweaking that needs to happen as we are just looking at a normal retrace/potential trend change on many pairs right now - not that unusual.
The work Paul and Alex have done on the autotrader and multibob - is incredible, but I think something with the mechanics of the strategy needs a tweak. Now we need to work out where.
Cheers,
Dave.

I havent had time to go over all the results yet, will do so one the week-end, but i can say that i'm dumbstruck that some of the positions have hit the 200 pip SL. There is clearly something wrong even with 1.1.11. Sorry for the very general post but will elaborate when i study the results better. When trends change, i assumed the EA would close the position, but clearly its not doing that, even after 200 pips have passed. I'm running some with Correlation and one or two with-out correlation. Will compare and post when checked.

The only code I see that is closing trades is based on TP and SL. Are there specific rules in the system for closing under other circumstances?cuzgeorge wrote:I havent had time to go over all the results yet, will do so one the week-end, but i can say that i'm dumbstruck that some of the positions have hit the 200 pip SL. I tend to agree with spotdespot.
From what I have observed, the power in Bob's trading is not so much in the indicators but the management of same. If there was such as thing as a successful fully automatic EA, not sure we will find it here. Apart from manual trades, we have had some great results 'managing' an early "NB" derivative EA - by managing I mean turning it off for a couple of weeks after a 20% account gain or when the average CurrencySlopeStrength is less than 0.3 (currently it is 0.2).
IMHO if there is any help or wisdom from these EA efforts, it may be in using Paul's (Baluda) outstanding tools & developing good trading habits, rather than perpetually "tweeking" indicator combinations/values for an EA which is only good for the latest week in which it was tweeked.

Truer words were never spoken. The market conditions are always changing and the only way you'll get a feel for how to cope with different market movements is by playing the game manually over time. In saying that it sure is fun to play around with these EA'sLifesys wrote:IMHO if there is any help or wisdom from these EA efforts, it may be in using Paul's (Baluda) outstanding tools & developing good trading habits, rather than perpetually "tweeking" indicator combinations/values for an EA which is only good for the latest week in which it was tweeked.

I wish we could use these bad results to discover how to better filter bad trade entries, that the ea could identify these market conditions, and discard dangerous trades where main trend is about to change, even if this means no trades at all, when market conditions suggest so.
In this cases, when there are few or none Pivot trades, maybe the ea could focus on the other trading oportunities available (Range, BB, Htrend...). Anyway i believe no trades is always better than bad trades.

On a number of posts, Bob recommends exiting if there is a cross (or close - can't remember which) beyond the weekly pivot.gaheitman wrote:The only code I see that is closing trades is based on TP and SL. Are there specific rules in the system for closing under other circumstances?
