Vantage Fx as well.... Out of curiosity, does anybody know why the brokers change to GMT+3?

Quick answer: NY Daylight Savings Time. They want to maintain a fixed offset from NY but they switch off summer time at a different time than NY. At least that's my understanding.

Hi,

Just want to check if this is correct.

I have 7 charts open using 10.2a. I open an 8th chart that is not for trading. I put the MPTM 25+10 on that chart and make "Manage All Trades" true.

Now, when i set a pending order on my trading chart and it is activated the MPTM will take over the trade on my trading chart.
Is that correct?

Thanks

Simple as that - just make sure you've got the smiley face. MPTM comments will appear after a few moments (as long as you have ticks coming in) and they will tell you what it's doing.

Hi everyone,

first of all I would like to thank NanningBob and all the contributors for the elegant and effective 10.2A.
I have a doubt regarding the Oct 2012 update.

I have previously backtested a strategy that relies on the 10.2A, using the indicator called "10.2 TmaSlope_Norm".
Now, the Oct2012 contains a different version of the TMA Slope ("10.2 TmaSlopeTrue NT").
As everyone have noticed, they provide different "signals" or "strenght levels".
I have attached a comparison between the 2 indicators, related to the EURUSD 4H chart, and have highlighted some areas where the differences are more obvious.

I would like to ask which are the differences between the two, and if the old "10.2 TmaSlope_Norm" could be used instead of the new one, without compromising the logic of the 10.2A strategy.

Thank you,

cheers,

John.

p.s. the question may seem dummy, but at least I should have asked in the right place ;)

This Question is answered multiple times already...the difference of this two indicators is that the standard "Norm" is a repainting Indicator and therefor can't be used for backtesting.
The Newer Indicator implements the so called TMAtrue Algorithm that doesn't repaint and therefor can also be used for visual backtesting.
The value of the current bar should/is the same on both indicators.

Dummy is not a problem but please read the threads regarding this system first...and yes it will take some time...but this is a investment into your future...so take the time and do the reading first.

happy weekend,

Ok, thank you for your reply.
Yes, I've noticed that the value of the current bar is the same on both versions.
This also means that my manual backtesting has to be thrown into the bin. Better to start again than to use fake results,

happy weekend,

John.

Dummy thread is the only place you can get away with asking whatever you want without fear of being chastised. The more you read the better off you will be but please don't ever be shy to ask whatever you want in here. If you are looking to backtest then using one of theTMAtrue indicators is paramount, so it's good you asked! See you around the forums.

Hi Jemook,

thank you for the encouragement! :-)

Speaking of my attempts of manually/visually backtesting a strategy based on 10.2A, I have noticed that the daily pivots in my charts seem to be missing (while the monthlies and weeklies are there).
I have attached a 4H GBPUSD chart. I have set the # of bars to look back, in the indicator settings, to 2000000000 and refreshed the chart, but without any success.

What could be wrong?

thank you,

cheers,

John.
