Perfect! Now, let me load this up on all the pairs and see what the ratios look like....RJo wrote:fire580, your very welcome. I trust CC will post if my understanding is wrong--this is how the EAs' conditions are written.

First, I sort out the pivot formations by similarity, so as you read post 1, pg 1 you have:
a. Orderly Uptrend, Orderly Downtrend;
b. Disorderly Uptrend, Disorderly Downtrend; and
c. DP direction depedent trends (4).
The first 2 items under "Note" are merely stating that, by definition, market conditions are returning back to one of the Orderlies. The last 2 items under "Note", by definition, return us to the DP direction dependents. I do NOT undertand these "Note" to be new formations, but simply a note that the formation at hand has morphed into some other existing formation.
That's definitely one good and very organized way to look at it.
The "Notes" pinpoint the fluidity in the formations, showing how one formation seamlessly transforms into another (sometimes with important implications for the direction we will trade in).
Also outlined are under what conditions the "Disorderly" biases should be safe to trade and in what direction. When implemented well, you will filter out a lot of trades that appear promising at first but if taken, will often whiplash or at best give a very low edge for the risk taken.

Hi Don,disbellj wrote:The EA has my current understanding up to page 2 in PDF. Please understand I've not finished the PDF, so of course anything in later pages will not be in my EA yet.
I already have my MM equation and set to risk 2%. Also I make sure on all my EAs only one trade per bar is allowed. I don't think I have it trading yet, but if it is trading, it would be set to trade by trendcolor. I try to do most of my work in variables section, and then add my MM functions at bottom of code. The SL has probably not been implemented yet correctly due to I need to understand if I take the wiggle room pips from entry price or S/R Semafors. Let me keep reading.
Please let me know if I'm wrong on what I have so far.
Kindest regards,
Don
I think I'd rather wait until you are done with page 4 as I'm not sure CTS works well when only half-understood!
Let me know if anything on page 3 or 4 is getting in the way. Good luck.

OK! All this stuff about EAs and indicators is great, but I for one would like to learn MUCH more about how to actually trade this strategy!
Below is a trade I took on demo last night. Is this just one of those trades that doesn't work out? Or did I miss something?
I must admit, now I've seen how much the FastTMA lines can move, and how long the Semaphore can repaint, I've lost quite a lot of faith in this..................
CC! Please restore my faith!!!

Re: ADAPTING NB10.2A FOR LOWER TF & RM TRADING - 10.2A CTS
Hi GT3RS. I also saw that the Semaphore repaints that much and also the FastTMAlines can move a lot. Thats why i asked for a non repainting version. And Jem posted one. But it should not be used with 10.2a cts.
I can see that you are taking the short just a view pips above the next DP. So there is a possibility of a bounce cause the 'ball hasn't gained enough speed' .
I have added a MA for nearly knowing where the DP will go. ( Period:24 Method: Linear Weighted. Typical Price (HLC/3).
Hope this gives you a little bit of faith back.

Look to the light, dear friend, not the shadows.
CTS is a pivot-based system for fast-following trends that uses Semaphores to know early when they are changing direction. We always focus a lot on what the pivots ("the lights") are doing and why.
The primary use of the Semaphore is for its MTF signal nature which lets us know when a high/low on our TF has also become a high/low on a more influential higher TF. DO NOT ENTER BASED ON A HIGH/LOW SEMAPHORE ALERT ALONE.
Take another look at my comment on your chart and you will see that the previous low was also a low on the higher H4 TF. This was naturally followed by a retrace of PA that then went BEYOND MP and is leading DP to do the same thing. Obviously, that calls for a careful watch as DP is now expected to cross above MP warning us early that a bias change MAY soon be afoot (if it doesn't bounce back below MP). It is best to trade a retrace that is settling on, not bulldozing through strong pivots. It is precisely because the system watches these alerts in an MTF way that we can know when to take profit and wait a little while, thus keeping our profits out of trouble.
The FastTMALines' main use is for positioning our entry in order to get a trading edge and a safe but low-enough SL WHEN other conditions are in place. What the FastTMALine chooses to do at other times, like price action, is its unpredictable business.
I hope this helps. I am encouraged by your determination to learn the system and hope to hear about your reaping the benefits soon.
Cheers,
CC

Its good to know you won't just stand aside and let us make all the pips from your EA all by ourselvesRJo wrote:CC, as you were looking forward toward autotrading, I'm starting to as well.
That looks like it but better still, just to be doubly sure, why don't we do a COMPREHENSIVE checklist of ALL the items to be coded, including the one that has already been done, and then confirm together, once and for all, that everything that needs to be included is there?RJo wrote:Here are the CTS features that I've found to be missing from v1b and v1c. Hopefully this post will serve not only as a running list, but as a guide to v1b/c users who need to know what to manually look for in addition to the automatic alerts.
1. "Price retraces to/above[below] a pivot" - D, W, or M Pivot. To be applied to every standard entry.
2. DWMPBidDiffsMAs emerging trends - (in progress).
3. SMA 20 and SMA 240 filters - optional. A version with, and another version without may be in order.
4. Retrace to MP required on item #1 only for "Disorderly" DP<WP/DP<MP/WP>MP (and vise versa) formations. Defined as H1 ATeam signal within +/-10 pips of MP, perhaps?
5. If 2nd retrace per #4, then look for opposite (emerging) entry. Basically, check H1 ATeam at 3 signals ago and at last signal. If both within +/-10 pips of MP, then emerging entry.
6. ATeam based exit rules - in lieu of SEMA4X based exit rules. (v1b/c already closes positions upon opposite entry unless Hedge is switched on).
Please add things I've missed, clarify, etc. Thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, GBPJPY is in the "DT-RR" -- Downtrend Retracement scenario. Hence, you mentioned in page 1: "RRs are traded in the bias direction only after the retrace reaches MP and weakens as retracements can be strong soon after a higher TF high/low & bias alert emerges.".
What I would like to clarify is: So, in this GBPJPY case, did you mean to put in a pending Sell just slightly below the MP, which would constitute a correct entry (if PA decides to go back to MP & below that is)?

Re: ADAPTING NB10.2A FOR LOWER TF & RM TRADING - 10.2A CTS
RJo,
Regarding the SMA filters, it is preferrable that they be included as an optional parameter in a single EA that a trader can then switch on or off. I find that my best (most profitable) entries come about when the short is taken above both SMA(20) and SMA(240) or the long is below both SMA(20) and SMA(240). However, I also find that this condition is not always present even when all the other entry conditions are in place so if enforced mandatorily, will keep me out of a good trade opportunity. What I tend to do is use it while trading the conservative account but not on the aggressive account.
