Yeah, got to work on it some more. Didn't work. But still progress is progress. Updated EA in last post I made.

Thanks CC. Would you take that deal yourself?
I haven't. I am in no hurry to gamble on what price will do at MP.
I may if/when it confirms either a break or a reject and presents an entry opportunity.

disbellj wrote:Update: I think I may have accomplished getting rid of need for Semafor indicator. I took code from a script made by a friend for this purpose (well, not MTF, but getting type of Semafor), so I integrated it.

Update: It did not work, and since I'm testing on lower timeframe, caught it before hopefully anybody else. Went to using only SEMA4X (not 3_Level_ZZ_Semafor) indicator in EA. Added "a" after date in EA name.

Uodate: Found a small glitch in print-out to chart, so updated and added "b" after date in EA name.

Now I need to work on seeing if I can remove need for Fast Tma Line indicator (which uses the re-painting Tma, not TmaTrue. If TmaTrue was used, we could use 20 LWMA Typical and put bands on it).

Great work, Don!

CC. I'm getting rather confused and a little frustrated now.

I thinkn that AUDUSD short was a text book setup according to your strategy, yet, you say you won't "gamble" around the monthly pivot!

What gives!?

Jemook wrote:After spending the last 2 weeks with the (non-true) TMA Slope & Semafor indicators included I just can't handle having them on my charts. I know the system takes into account other factors as well and doesn't rely on these indicators it just doesn't feel right for me psychologically. I like to reliably backtest a strategy while I am forward testing so this one is out the window for me. I still believe this is a solid strategy and I'm sure it will work for others so either way I will keep a keen eye on this thread and chime in when I feel I have more to offer. Furthermore your insights into defining all the different pivot formations are pure genius! Good luck!
Hi Jemook,

Thanks for the constructive feedback. Its appreciated.
Defining the pivots is indeed a highlight of the strategy and usable in other strategies.
Having to use repainting indies for finding areas for entry with a good edge and identifying MTF highs/lows are presently the lowlights but since the system is indy-agnostic, the challenge will be overcome, one way or another (a non-repainting MTF alert indy is already available, leaving just the MTF TMA lines). An EA will allow the strategy to be back-tested without looking at repaints so keep an eye out for that.

Throwing babies out of windows with bath water is a personal choice. Can't/won't dare to interfere with that. :D

Cheers,

You have asked for clarification before and I did tell you that a retrace (i.e. any **-RR) goes towards/ beyond MP after a higher TF alert. Now what is confusing about wanting to know which one it is before entry i.e. if the retrace does bounce before MP or break through it before entry? If a retrace entry opportunity occurs after the confirmation, the choice is clear.

If I wasn't clear before, then my apologies - my English teacher must have taught me wrongly. CTS makes absolutely NO (again NO- repeated for clarity) attempt to second-guess price at MP. It never does/will. I don't know any successful randon walk predicting systems that do. I believe it is only best to follow fast upon confirmation. Price behaviour at MP is not a pre-determined CTS condition - it can't tell that price will not break through MP. All that it can prescribe at MP (especially at MP during a retrace) is confirmation first then entry.

In fact, always observe first what price does at MP in a retracement before entry. It is the very first signal that a trend change may be afoot (and when a trend wants to change, it usually does regardless of what system the trader is using).

Please if by chance, anything I have said above is unclear, let me know.

Cheers,
CC

LOL I had to look up that idiom :D as I said I will be keeping an eye on your system regardless! I'd just prefer to focus on others as they suit my style a bit more. I said it before and I'll say it again, I love what you've done with this system so keep it up champ.

Listen to the man. Don't just short at the pivot, wait for confirmation and then get in.

RJo wrote:CC, thank you for your clarifying comments. I've done my research and unfortunately I'm having trouble putting everything into language that Empty4 will understand. I'm dealing with several issues:

1. Any EA builder's/template's code is, by definition, limited.
2. My custom coding skills leave much to be desired at the present time--I'm still learning.
3. Much of the data is subjective--I'm attempting to torture it into objectivity. This is not a knock on your strategy. Many manual trading strategies are subjective.
4. I have a hunch that not even a basic bias alert can be correctly built unless, somehow, the last trend status is stored and subsequently called and applied in the analysis of the current trend (I suspect that I'm in a similar predicament in another EA I'm working on as well).
5. I still don't completely understand all the interrelationships bewteen all the indicators and price action.
I appreciate your effort thus far. Thanks. Though you sound defeated, I believe you haven't given up just yet, just pausing to find a better way of going about it, which is good.
RJo wrote:In any event, I advise not using v1b/c until I figure out how to fix them--based on your comments. I'll also be looking into MS Powerpoint to see if I can use it to reorganize the data/variables/possible events in a manageable way.

Jem, please feel free to remove the EA's for now if deemed appropriate. I fear some lazy threadgoers might stop at pg 4 and simply load them up.
Really? Now wouldn't it be nice if another coder could build on your work, even if you couldn't take it further yourself (that can't happen if downloads are removed)?

Here's a small something for the CTS folks.
TMASlopeCTS, Screen I.png
This indicator shows the TMA Slope of the actual timeframe colored according to CC's specs. limitLow and limitHigh, now 0.55 and 0.80, are user configurable. Colors can be set too.

Enjoy,

Paul

Oh my! The mod is just what the doctor ordered. Thanks!!! :D

Just being hopeful, Paul - do you think the FastTMALine can also be modified to stop repainting?
