Hi all,
great to see this thread is going strong, this is a great EA.

A quick update on the demos,

MPTM is dong my TradeManagement, all is turned off in the EA. This is how i'm getting round those annoying alerts. Remeber to allow for the spread rules your crims offer, usually the new position must be twice the spread, minimum.
I am allowing hedging with hedgethehedged=true also and this has allowed a great deal of trades that are open and the DD has built up. twice the wins actually.
I have been trying to get the DD wiped out by Manually trading while the EA's are still on their charts and to see how the EA treats my manual trades. Its really interesting.

Try it... take a BUY for 0.1 and then take a SELL for 0.1 and see how SB takes over and if they close in profit or not.

Image

Recovery is proving difficult for me so changed MPTM to only allow one hedge with no SL and i'm looking to close these positions manually or with a small profit as TP. Will probably take some time to close and SB now has few positons open by itself. Positions are mostly hedged positions from the passed months. NOT turning off the EA's and we'll see how she trades from now with me closing.
only one trade is in L3 (0.6 lot) and i have never had to interfere since started this EA.

attached pic is a clearer view of recently closed positions. Note there are some bad losses due to MPTM, so gotta watch that. Note my pairs traded and also commodities. MPTM is on 1M eurusd, first one, the rest are using SB.

Set file attached with 3, and 6 slopey settings, remember to arrange trade management.
comments and suggestions are very welcome. GBPUSD seems to be the better, and more active pair for my set, dont know if its eventually the better pair, try it and let us know please.

So both Matt and Mike notice that it is important to choose the right currency pairs. You guys might be right there. I am trading almost all currency pairs that are available at FXCM and Bully Pepperstone and I do notice that on occasions, the drawdown may become somewhat significant - then again, I guess it all depends on your account size. It seems to me that the Yen pairs have the highest drawdowns. Currently I am actually suffering some drawdown on EURJPY and GBPJPY. If I wanted to play it safer still, I should probably eliminate those from my trading. But on the other hand, when they come right they do make good money. So I figured I might keep them for now.

So far I have been trading the white box in the middle of the charts as well. I am getting the impression that the white box may give some profitable trades, but does increase the chance to more serious drawdowns. I would probably eliminate those for the Yen pairs (or for all the not-so-much-ranging pairs) before I would stop trading them.

Preparing for some further drawdown :-): Any of you have any good suggestions for dealing with a fourth trade in the 1-2-6 recovery scheme? I am now thinking to open another 6 or 8 size compared to the first trade, after the market moves another 150 pips away from my entry. I read that Nanningbob prefers to never have more than four trades open. Are there others who close the first trade when the fourth or fifth trade kicks in?

Ttyl!

Maurik

I have played around with every available currency and run tests to see what set file I am going to use. So every single pair has its own set file. I also avoid trading AUD and NZD pairs since they have not passed my tests.

Hi yes, life for months with continuous account growth. I carefully chose my pairs AUDCAD,AUDNZD,AUDUSD,EURCAD,EURGBP,EURUSD,GBPAUD,GBPCAD,GBPUSD,NZDUSD,USDCAD avoiding the pairs that regularly get into L2 and L3 recovery trades. I use Marcello's set file but allow 7 open trades. Lotsize 0.15 with a 50k account.
Best Mike
Hi Mike,

I want to try your settings on these same currency pairs. Since the account I want to try it on is around half the size of your account, I would be interested in understanding the max drawdown you are experiencing.

Also, I don't think I know Marcello's set file. By 7 open trades, you mean open trades or currency pairs trading simultaneously? Do you use 1-2-6 recovery or another type?

Thanks for letting me know!

Interesting post Mike - what you are actually saying here is that at this moment in time, you know (or expect) that the pairs you have listed here won't move long distances against each other in the future.

How do you calculate this?

The original concept behind the Beast (as it is now called) was to trade as balanced a basket of pairs as possible, so that long term you should be able to recover from fundamental shifts caused by major events. It is relatively easy to create a bot which is profitable over a short period - those 'contests' run by brokers prove that - but longer term is quite a different problem.

Interested to know how you made your choices.

Hi steve! When I did backtest this EA keeps showing error " unknown ticket xx for OrderClose function", and backtest will "stuck" at this point.

I found this EA is intersting ,can you fix this? Thanks!

Hello,

i'm riding the beast too. 7 month on demo and 5 month on a real account.
if you get invalid stop errors it could be a wrong compare of double variables.
search for somthing like that (doube == double or double != double)

if (OrderStopLoss() == NewStop) ...
if (OrderStopLoss() != NewStop) ...

fix that with
if (NormalizeDouble(OrderStopLoss(), Digits) == NormalizeDouble(NewStop, Digits)) ...

i follow this thread and maybe i could help sometimes
best regards

Hi Snoopier ,

Amazing results! I am using the beast myself on demo accounts and still playing around with its settings. I believe it is one ofe the most promising EA's in thi sforum and would very much like to see a continuation in its development. unfortunatelly I am not a developer and thus I have to rely on other people to do just that. Anyay as i aforementioned your results look Great. could you share your set file fort your live account?

Thanks in advance
Matt
