Nanningbob 10.1 The EA is here

I have been running TIB since December 7 and the account has made till today 222 pips.
The (demo) account is on Alpari UK and TIB runs on 22 pairs. As per Bobs instructions I deactivated (today) NZD pairs since I experienced some loss (and a BE) with them. Settings have been pretty much OOTB, however the bot has not been trading unattended. I have manually intervened in several occasions when I judged that price was stalling or that a reversal was imminent and in retrospect it has been a good thing. A change in settings for this week will regard the trading times since the Asian session has not been profitable.

Given this opportunity I'd like to thank Steve for all his great work and Bob for a fantastic strategy.

I am running 10.1 on 12 different D1 charts, but haven't really given it a chance to settle in. This is an EA to produce in the long haul, and I'll certainly give it more time.

I like to watch these EAs in action for a while before making a judgement, to make sure they are working as intended.

The "Chihuahua symdrom"

i believe there is an issue with the EA, which makes it miss trades most of the times:

when the PA crosses S1 or R1, the indicator will immediately shift S and R zones so that R1 is always above PA, and S1 is always below PA.
This happens on a per-tick basis, so this is immediate as soon as PA crosses R1 or S1 even by just 1 Point;

What i observe is that the EA will immediately react by moving the "pending entry line" to match the "new" R1 or S1 level...

Because the "pending entry line" is BufferPips (=5p) away from the center of the R1 or S1 zone, this does not give a chance to PA to ever reach the "pending entry line", and no trade opens in most cases.

Here is a sequence of screenshots showing what i mean:

I would be curious to see if anyone of you have been experiencing the same behaviour, or i am the only one who had it....

In fact this behaviour of the EA is as expected as per how it is coded:
the EA will always try to keep the buystop above R1, and sellstop below S1.
So, if R1 and S1 suddenly move (actually shift to the next S/R levels), then the EA will simply follow that shift.

The funny thing is that the pending line looks like being pushed away as PA approaches the SR zone, and then sticks back when PA is reversing and running away from that same zone...

A bit like a Chihuahua barking at you while you are far away, but suddenly turns around and runs away if you approach it close enough... and then comes back barking at you as you walk away... !

Perhaps we should rename this EA "The Incomparable Bob's Chihuahua"


On a more constructive side, i would suggest a possible solution to prevent the "Chihuahua syndrom":

The EA would place the pending trade at R1 OR S1, whichever is the closest level still meeting the pending conditions;

In the case of sellstop (my picture), the pending line would be R1-BufferPips if PA>R1-BufferPips;

That way, whenever PA approaches the S1 line, and S1 turns into R1, (as in my screenshot sequence), the pending line would now be set to R1, as R1 is now the closest level meeting the sellstop condition.
Which means that the pending line is not actually moved.

This looks like a classic example of LUC kicking in. Were pending trades actual thingies sent to the criminal rather than Stealth thingies, I would perhaps have noticed earlier.

Not necessarily though. TIB went onto my demo and lost consistently. In the absence of any real interest here, I assumed it was yet another of those bots that are unable to replicate the manual trading of the trader who developed the system, and abandoned it.

I will look again in the morning.

TIB took one or two trades today, but should have been more. Unfortunately, I wasn't around to watch, other than seeing the fact that there seemed to be a great opportunity lost. Sorry I couldn't be of more help and now I'm going to be out of town for a couple days.

I keep getting a solid string of OP_SELL order send failed with error 130...

Don't give up on this one yet, too much potential here.

Finally got round to setting up a demo account, so far today had a winner on EU but losers on GJ and GU.

Edit: Found out why it was opening strange trades for GJ, The indicator had been renamed 10.1 S%26R Daily.mq4 during download and so dropping on the chart works fine but EA has values from template for all pairs i dropped it onto! After renaming and reloading it all seems fine now so hopefully it will trade as expected.

Hello All.
First, A big thank you to Steve, Naningbob and all who have contributed both to this thread and this site.
I did not have a good run last week, but this week has started off a lot better.
I watched the bot open a sell on GBP/AUD this morning in what, to me, was the wrong direction.
I took a screenshot shortly after and have posted it. I decided to add AA as an extra entry filter. Have a good day.

I have this behaviour with Stealth mode, which is the default i believe.
It displays the pending line, and sends market orders only.

My suggestion of using S1 OR R1 whichever suits best should really help.

And, yes, MurphyMan, this thing has great potential.
Looking at EU : would have yielded 200p+ from trade opened yesterday:
entry at 1.3421, TP hit today at 1.3212;
I could live with that

Although these are not yet optimal SR levels.
DaysBack set to 80 (default is 60) gives additional targets due to PA now gone past the last 60 days hi/lo range.

We are now back to Oct 4 low, after a 1000p north / 1000p south journey in just 10 weeks...

If we break the 1.3145 low established on Oct 4, we'll have to set DaysBack to.... 400(!!) to uncover D1 levels further south... !!
Next stop at 1.3055, then 1.2970.

I have stopped the pending price line moving. The only time it is deleted is at the start of the D1 candle.
