Thanks for finding this, guys. Most helpful.

:D
it'd be great to retain that check somehow to help people who forget to populate their terminal's history but, my thoughts are as it is now when it inits on lots of charts at the same time there is resource contention that increases the odds of a lock ups. maybe some kind of randomization or delay on startup of the function would help with it starting at same time on 20+ charts.
The code could be altered to only call it for the periods needed. If the bot only looks at H4 and D1 data, who cares if M30 is up to date? Also, these TF would be kept up to date if the EA is actively running, so at next restart it shouldn't be such a burden. Theoretically. :>

Also, we should move it out of init(). My experience with the BasketEquity indicator taught me that init() is the root of all evil. In that indi, I now use a DataOK flag and then check the data one period at a time at the beginning of start(). If I find one that doesn't have enough data, I drop out of start() and wait for another tick, knowing that my looking to see if the data is there likely forced the download. Once all my currencies come back clean, I set DataOK to true and get on with the rest of the start().

Steve,

If you want to give something like this a shot in your EA as a replacement, let me know and I can package up some code to drop in.

George
Yes please George. From there I can drop it into my shells and under-development ea's.

I will look into this.

I have the same setup but will not take the trade because I will not sell AUD.

* You're using stoch(7,2,2), right?
Yes

* Do you use exponential or simple MA in your stoch? (simple is the default)
I'm not using a MA in my stoch

* What time is your end of day? Do you think this is critical, i.e. is there behavior around that time that helps your strategy? Or should Gday work fairly independently of EOD time? I'll be running with EOD = 5pm NY time, so there are 5 equal-length D1 bars in the week.
My broker's open is 5pm NY time, so our trades should match providing the feeds from our brokers are similar.
With that being said, I don't think it should make a difference what time a broker is, I would just trade the setups according to each broker feed.

* You have a "stochastic exit" if the fast stoch line crosses back across the slow line. Is that the "stoch of today's close" or the "stoch of tomorrow's open" ?
Stoch at the new open

* Do you (or somebody) have a myfxbook account of your Gday Mk2 trades, so I can compare them to my TS trades?

I'm testing option 2 (OB/OS yesterday, out of OB/OS today, still out of OB/OS at the open tomorrow) and it's looking OK but not as good as the results you guys are reporting. I need to compare against correct trades so I make sure I'm doing this right.
I have 4 Gday demo's running at the moment:
1. Original Gday OB/OS 80/20
2. Gday Mk2, OB/OS 80/20, TradeTrigger 75/25, Option 1 & 2, (standard exit)
3. Gday Mk2, OB/OS 80/20, TradeTrigger 75/25, Option 1 & 2, Candlestick Trailing Stop
4. Gday Mk2, OB/OS 80/20, TradeTrigger 75/25, Option 1 & 2, 'Regular' Trailing Stop

See below for myfxbook links, but our setups are different so trades won't be the same, perhaps someone else who is trading the same setup as you can also set up a myfxbook??

Um, yes, I think you are... the 7 is the stoch lookback length, and the 2 and 2 are both smoothing MAs. The "fast%K" stochastic value is (Close - LowestLow) / (HighestHigh - LowestLow) -- but the Empty4 Stochastic indicator doesn't plot that.

The "Fast%D" value is MA(fast%K,len1). "Slow%K" is the same as Fast%D. "Slow%D" is MA(Slow%K,len2). Empty4's indi plots Slow%K and Slow%D.

(Confusing as hell, innit? But that's the way George Lane defined it.)

So you're using two MAs for the "2,2" params. If you didn't know they were there, you probably left them at the Empty4 default -- but I'm not sure what that is, because it remembers whatever you used last. Would you check your Stochastic properties and see what it says for "MA Method" ?

It looks like Steve's EA uses SMA by default but you can change it with the MaMethod input.

Humm, OK. I'll see if I can add Option 1 so I can mirror your demo #2.

Thanks Shelley!

Shelley, you're using 80/20 OB/OS, and 75/25 entry triggers.

Option1 in Steve's EA is "enter long if stoch is < 20 yesterday, and > 25 at today's open." That says it has to go from <20 to >25 in one candle. Does that mean if the stoch moves up slowly, from 19 to 21 to 24 to 26, you would NOT enter a trade?

Option2 has a similar problem. Option2 is "enter long if stoch is < 20 two days ago, > 20 yesterday, and > 25 at today's open." So it has to go from <20 to >25 in 2 candles. Is that what you wanted?

Version 1d is in post 1. It is probably the least necessary update in the whole history of updating anything since humankind first learned how to have a good stretch after waking up.

In another piece of brilliant bloop-spotting, Gary noticed that Option2 is never checked if Option1 is disabled. Gary's forensic brain spotted the error in my logic - never mind the details.

This has not arisen as an issue because there is no reason to turn off Option1 - it is irrelevant, so no need to bother. If the idea of turning it off has never occurred to you, then you do not need the update.

Shelly, I cannot see any reason for those strange part-closures. The code that calls the part-closure function is enclosed within a conditional that demands that the trade be in profit before the part=closure function is called. My live account did not take these trades because I will not sell the high-swap pairs. My demo did and has not replicated the problem.

So, no idea what caused it. Maybe the other coders can see something wrong? All the management features are called from within CountOpenTrades().

G’day Shelley, I have been following your G’day method for a few days now with great interest but am concerned because my demo account is currently losing money, that is, if I am following the rules correctly, which I believe I am.
I have also been running G’day on another account using an alternative to 7.2.2. Stochastic, the De Mark Tendline, using the DMT I would not have taken any of the losers and would be well ahead, it is also less subjective and easy to follow, buy/sell on cross of trendline on the open of a new daily bar, see rules below.
Because you work, you could place a pending trade before you head off, SL would be a daily close/open back inside the trend line.

Regards,
Glenn
