Bob,

Truly a great summary of what we have been struggling to identify as the overall rules for various market conditions.

Looking forward to your New Year's Gift, and wishing it comes before the Chinese New Year ! :)

My wish list:

1. Don't know what might the difference be between Fib M30 and Pivots H1. Could the coders provide both Fibs and Pivots?

2. Similarly for the trend indicator, TMA Slope. Would it be possible to substitute other trend indys, e.g., the traditional RSI, Bollinger Bands or perhaps TrendMagic from FF's good ol' days (based on CCI)?

From my non-coder POV, all a coder need do is provide menu choices to the trader with the parameter range being read off by the EA/Indy (e.g. -.4/.4 for TMA Slope.)

What I personally find is that the TMA is lagging quite a bit- not great for trend continuations, and so-so for reversals. Of course your own method doesn't depend upon a specific trend indy.

3. CT trading with that hedging is great stuff and I wish Phil had stuck around, but could the CT be applied to more than one TF here? That is, this CT strategy being used in its own right, as opposed to 'merely' a hedge?

4. I am hoping that Don and Paul would be producing what you mentioned. Should we also be expecting an EA by someone in addition to Don's Indy?

It is probable that the flexibility I ask for doesn't get too difficult to code, or confusing. Ultimately, what we want is to gauge a trend or reversal, and also look at the pivot alignment (maybe even a dynamic fib alignment in the future), just like all trading based on trending or breakouts. Then apply smart techniques like CT hedging, and have some inkling of volatility conditions for various pairs traded to judge their respective likelihoods of S/R or reversals.

The remaining is luck, aka, statistics (as in lies, damn lies, and statistics !)

Regards,
Athar.

Bob,

I have just updated my files today. The daily pivot indicator is done. So is the weekly. They include opens and pivot and SR, hence the names :) The code should be able to be copied right from my indicators to Baluda's or whoever else's to fix daily open and weekly open, pivots also.

I also updated AllPairs. Before this update I had multiple people telling me it was faster and no longer a speed problem. Now I have even gotten rid of as many loops as possible, so should be the fastest it can possibly be. The ONLY other change I could possibly make is to not let it process anything except two times a day - one hour before London and one hour before New York. I can do that if you want me to and not have signals all the time (I would make it an inpiut and turn it to false, just in case someone did want signals all the time instead of only at those two times. Just let me know. Otherwise, the only thing I'm working out now is zero divide errors happening, well, only three people have let me know they're having problems, and only two of those people have sent me server files.

I also updated multiple indicators in my trading template.

Anything with today's date, on my website, under first link for Forex stuff: tinyurl.com/disbellj

For a PhilBuy (aka PB) or PhilSell (aka PS), although stoploss is listed, Phil does not use a stoploss. This is why R:R is not being printed to chart on AllPairs for Phil's trades, since stoploss is essential for calculating R:R (or Lots for MM for that matter, if using my calculation for MM Lots, which my trendline indicator does if Comments are turned on in that indicator I think).

If anyone has problems, let me know.

Kindest regards,

Don

Don,

Welcome back, and well done !

I was one of the guys who complained about zero divide errors a while ago (2 weeks?)

But I trust that other folks have the server files you need, given that I am not a computer guy. BTW, I am on FXCM Empty4 Build 445 running Win7 (and yes, my Empty4 files are directly under C drive instead of being under the default Prog Files, so no permissions problem.) Started a new demo account today from FXCM again to allow hedging (had a US based account previously), so should have no data load problems either.

While trolling FF last night, I stumbled upon your Trader 101/Kosomolate threads and noticed your signature displays- very nice, lots of work :) Now someone has to tell me how useful that TLE (Trade Engine Logic) EA is...

In any case, have you had any experience with VPS (virtual private servers) and any recommendations? Looks like we need to run some of this stuff all the time, without the PC being switched on all the time.

Regards,
Athar.

Athar, I'm still working on zero divide errors. If you are having them on one broker, let me know by private email or private message and I will look into it, if you send me the .srv files (server files) from your config folder inside Empty4 folder. Then, until I get the errors fixed, you can use a broker like FXDD or MB Trading or Cowboy IBFX which I have used and I have no errors on.

Don,

Great background :)

I won't bother you with my .srv files for now- will be patient, and let your brain cycles build that EMI tsunami to kill off those crims who steal from us all.

However, that VPS thing will help all of us 10.x trekkies here if you got any experience.

I got experience, but IME if you get a VPS, make sure you get one that has backup included so your files are there if you need them. I'd also make a backup of my files if I were you, just in case. I would also make sure that any interruptions and the VPS company contacts you. I would also ask them how long it takes for them to get back online in a disaster recovery situation. If not instantly, then they need to either work on it, or get someone else. You would think the would do all this on their own, but mine didn't. I got rid of them. Don't use one now, just my Mac. BTW, Mac users never had an IT, and IT always gave me crap about Mac, bad-mouthing them as toys (gotta hellava lot of work done for my Macs being toys for last 20 years without a single virus LOL). They wouldn't mess with them period. So I researched and made clones with Carbon Copy Cloner. My system I could get back up and running an exact duplicate of my system with a simple restart from the cloned drive. IT it took five days to get the front office server up and running. No crap. This is why I don't personally like IT, all I had was crap from them, yet I never really needed them and I did better without them in every situation (after awhile I was glad I didn't have them mucking up my stuff). Of course, when a company like the one I worked for calls an IT company named SOS, you know there's trouble already LOL.

Kindest regards,

Don

P.S. I am not trying to step on any toes, just sharing my experiences.

Alright guys, I made a ZeroDivDon function that I put in wherever I was doing any dividing. I got the idea where Hanover mentioned it. I couldn't find his code, so I made my own. Very simple. Anyways, I now consider all bugs squashed with my existing code posted on my website at this time, and a new update is available for AllPairs with today's date (120712), plus a link to another page for explanation if you're having trouble. My website is now in my signature below, and will remain there so anyone can get the latest stuff if they ever have any doubt if they have the latest stuff.

Any changes from here on out shouldn't be for bugs IMHO.

Hi Don,

the tinyurl link in your signature is wrong. Shouldn't it be http://www.tinyurl.com/disbellj ...
