Are people still able to get this EA to trade in both directions....?

I have it running on three brokers, but cant get it to trade short...

I have also been running it substantially Strategy Tester and also cannot get it to go short..!

If there are people trading it both ways, could you please detail you configuration and maybe also your set files....as this thing is starting to do my head in....

You may want to make sure you have the "SuperTrend (1)' indicator in your folder. I was getting a bunch indicator not found errors and noticed I had "SuperTrend" and not "SuperTrend (1). Once I made sure I had the right indicator, I was getting longs and shorts. I hope this helps.

I'm following on fxbook but please post back what your thoughts are after you've run this for a month as you post. I'm very curious to see how this approach works.

My initial thoughts are you might get some losers from the instant trail and TG sometimes go's in the wrong direction straight away, or soon after opening.

BE is very close and you might find the majority of positions close at this point, but nice to see you are testing between TS and JS. Something i never tried after dropping TS altogether. Please just make sure you have no SL or TP's anywhere. This should be very interesting.

5K in deposit might be a little low for the amount of charts, but at least its a realistic amount. Lets see.

In light of your feedback (and a couple other issues I noticed), I setup up totally new demo with the following 4 scenarios:

1) Magic #1:Instant TS of 40pips
2) Magic #2:BE@30, BEP:+10, then normal TS of 10pips => effectively trailing by 30pips
3) Magic #3:BE@31, BEP:+1, JS: 20pips => effectively trailing by 30pips
4) Magic #4:Cuz set

I will def post up my thoughts as the demo progresses

i cant see why this has happened, as it don't seem to meet any of the TG logic..

in the first case the SuperTrend indicator is above price and is red, which i understand indicates a down trend...so not sure why it has triggered...!

I think we have a problem...

I have just reviewed three trades that TG entered me in on my AXI Trader demo account and none of them meet the criteria for a long trade from what i can see....

Note: All times will be quote GMT +2

AUDUSD @ 04:00 21:01:2013 (Note this almost meet criteria)
- SuperTrend was below price and green...
- Entry was above DP
- However previous candles high and not it's low touched DP
This should have been identified as a Short or long as it did not meet the rules....Interestingly, there is and entry long (i think) 8hr later at 12:00 21:01:2013...although this may reverse also...

USDCHF @ 10:00 21:01:2013 (Complete fail)
- SuperTrend was above price and red...
- Entry was below DP
- However previous candles high did touched DP
This should have been identified as a Short and not a long by the EA

EURUSD @ 10:00 21:01:2013 (Complete fail)
- SuperTrend was above price and red...
- Entry was below DP

So, this may be related to why so many people can only get long trades from the EA....Although, i really don't understand how some people are reporting shorts, as these issues appears to relate the the EA itself, as i don't believe any setting int he SET file could cause these apparent logic faults...

P.S, all three trades are performing well, in the reverse direction....

I am seeing similar issues but different trades:

No AUDUSD trade

Same USDCHF trade - logic fail
-currently negative
-the EA is indicating "Cross status: No cross: Trend Trending up" but price below SuperTrend

Extra Trade - USDJPY @ 11:00 21.01.2013
-Super Trend above price and red
-Entry above Daily Pivot, previous candles did touch pivot but not SuperTrend
-SuperTrend has since changed colour
-currently positive

I am also only seeing Long Trades - an enigma.

I am not totally ignoring what is going on here. Reading posts by Wiggy and others about incorrect trades made me look at the code. Reading Gary's linked thread in post 1, it seems far from sure that what I coded actually reflected what I intended.

For now, I am going to do nothing about this. At some stage, I might return and attempt a closer reflection of Gary's posited ideas. For now, I am going to leave the bot alone; accidental or not, the fact is it has been gently profitable on demo. This may be happy accident, but it would be a pleasant change to have a happy one rather than the usual unhappy one.

Moving on, there appears to be some doubt here as to what constitutes a pip. Guys, a pip is a pip is a pip. It matters not a jot how many decimal points your particular crim insists on adding to the price.

Take EU. Glancing at the quote from my 5 digit crim, the price is 1.33131. The 5th decimal place is a deliberate attempt to confuse the inexperienced - and clearly is working here.

The bit of the price that counts is 1.3313. If this increases to 1.3314, the market has risen by one pip. If it falls to 1.3312, the market has fallen by one pip. Nobody gives a toss what happens to that 5th digit and anyone with any experience mentally tunes it out.

All my ea's automatically adjust to quotes of any size. The silly sod crim could adopt an 8 digit quote and my ea's would take it in their stride. When using my ea's, always enter pip values as proper pips and forget this piplet/points garbage. You want a 20 pip stop loss? Enter 20 as your sl. Not 200, 2000 or 20000.

I'm going to turn my TG EA off for the time being as i'm not seeing the profitable trades described by others.... I also don't see how this can happen as the EA appears to be trading against the trend in many cases.....This may be why an earlier comment was made that the EA was hanging onto trade for a long time.....i could see how this could happen if the EA was taking trades against the trend in a counter trend fashion, then had to wait for price to recover before gong into profit....maybe we could use the EA in this fashion by design, however look for some other method to detect the the trend has been exhausted then enter....

For now I'm going to trade Gary's strategy manually and stand aside from the EA testing, as i don't now what logic it is using to execute trades and as such it's a black box for me...

Just a thought Steve, while I'm typing this....Could you leave the existing TG ea version 1 for people to experiment with and start a second stream in line with Gary's original rules...It seems a shame that we don't appear to have an EA that is representative of Gary's idea....

I know you have a lot on your plate, it maybe a back burner thing...

Just a quick note:

The success or otherwise of this EA (like many others) is DEFINITELY br0ker related (guess it has something to do with the feed, that the EA/indi either diggs or not...)

For those of you getting only BUYs (meaning also serious profitability), don't change a thing!, just take the money and run!
