Hi, mjws00.mjws00 wrote:I'll throw an external on the MA when I get a chance. Nice to see others using it to look at the Higher TF as well.
That would be great, thanks in advance!
By the way, while I was taking a quick look at the code, I've noticed the following line:
extern string ignorestring="NOK,SEK,HUF,PLN,ZAR,CZK,TRY,MXN,RUB,SGD,HKD,DKK,XPT,XPD,SUG,SOY,GSO,COF,
COC,CORN,XAG,WTI,NAT,BCO,SPX,NAS,USD";
wich makes sense to me, as far as currencies like 'NOK', 'SEK', etc. are concerned, but 'USD'??? After removing 'USD' from this list and compiling the Dashboard indicator anew, my Empty4 platform froze, so I had to start it up again. After I did that, I looked at the results of this indicator once more and got the impression that it was continually 'refreshing'; following a hunch, I checked the D1 time frames and it seems as if the UT an DT (price up or under the MA240) and even 'pips distance' are now calculated and shown in the Dashboard correctly! Was it right all along? Am I losing my wits?!...
Figured it out that I was wrong: the reading for different time frames is always right in telling you where price is, regarding the MA240, but if it's the wrong MA for the right TF, the result (UT/DT) will still be 'proportionally' wrong. Right?
Found your modified version of the Dashboard, thanks a lot!
greetings,
Ronald

Re: 10.4 A Complete System
Definately a good day for 10.4. This is the charting Demo. Accidently misclicked and closed USDJPY. So there is another 175pips on that. I don't have many 1000 pip days. Thankfully it is still good in the live acct. There were valid short vanilla Yen setups. I did take a few early in the countertrend thread all based on 10.4 framework.

Does anyone agree that when we get a red or green signal of a pair and then it goes below 90 or above 10 that would mean we should now be entering and a yellow highlight this time would really be eye catching because otherwise it goes back to white and you might not notice you should now be in that trade unless you were watching very carefully which is what we should do but being a dashboard it is here to help us notice these things on so many pairs at a time.

Hi fire580. I agree full-heartedly; getting an extra 'eye catcher', at the moment you describe, would be of great help for traders who are watching multiple charts at the same time. Instead of a 'yellow highlight', however, I would humbly suggest the incentive to be something a little more urging, like a beautiful girl popping up on the screen and the longer one waits to open a trade, the less clothes she would be wearing... Hmmm, maybe trading isn't my cup of tea after all...fire580 wrote:Does anyone agree that when we get a red or green signal of a pair and then it goes below 90 or above 10 that would mean we should now be entering and a yellow highlight this time would really be eye catching because otherwise it goes back to white and you might not notice you should now be in that trade unless you were watching very carefully which is what we should do but being a dashboard it is here to help us notice these things on so many pairs at a time.
Seriously though, I think you have a point.

isn't it a bit late to enter orders after the RSI has moved away from flatline...?fire580 wrote:Does anyone agree that when we get a red or green signal of a pair and then it goes below 90 or above 10 that would mean we should now be entering and a yellow highlight this time would really be eye catching because otherwise it goes back to white and you might not notice you should now be in that trade unless you were watching very carefully which is what we should do but being a dashboard it is here to help us notice these things on so many pairs at a time.
If not, an easy param (rsiDT/rsiUT) change for you would be to widen the 90/10 range to 80/20 - so they stay red/green longer?
If we program them to change to yellow, on what condition would you change them back to white/black?

Re: CAD/JPY - a good short setup or one to avoid?
Those setups right around the 240 are tricky and very prone to whipsaws, imho. It can just as easily spike long and get you in the wrong way when you are trading a pivot that is close. I know we are going to see lots of people jump on them, and some will get lucky.... some will discover the burn of a nice wide stop.padnoter wrote:Hi,

The magic is your trendline, imho. Once it is respected, a signal to the downside becomes reasonably safe. However, if you are trading a rejection of your trendline then the 240 to me is only a quick heads up that you may be countertrend, or ranging.
Remember the 240 is very close to a 200, that has the whole world watching. Price can bounce around near them, if you get long and short on each spike you will remember it.
My two bits. I know we are seeing good days here. But if you take these rules and run a year or two worth of data manually in the strategy sim... you will quickly learn that just following along, taking every trade that is valid is a KILLER. Primary pain is experienced during major sweeping turns in the market, and frustrating during ranges, and around the 240... once she has a little gap and is moving it is far easier to get in on a safe retrace.
At the end of the day. Vanilla 10.4 is enter on a retrace back to the 240. Enter your orders at meaningful SR (pivots being the most basic.) Simple and Safe.
Mike
