The indicator would redraw the lines at 00:00 hrs except on Sunday.
Once the lines are drawn it will wait for daily time change.

Technically you could remove the indi from the list with a slight mod i.e. currently the indi will delete ALL objects on the chart. I have to modify it to remove only its object with a user option to not to.

Dear Mer,

Normally, I would use the 4-2-1 ratio for the Counter Trend trades with only one Regular trade being placed and then use higher lots when I have multiple trades open, like maybe 8-4-2 or 6-3-1.5 instead. I'm not going to change that until the first of the year as I want to keep the setup as simple as possible so not to confuse anyone

Thanks for sharing the Synergy strategy. I have 2 questions:
  • Should this current sequeunce of CT trades be based on 4-4-1, instead of 4-2-1? It was mentioned that the "next CT2 trade will be 4 lots" in Post http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 3357#p3357.
  • Since in this regular trade, 3 lots are used, you would normally use 8-4-2 or 6-3-1.5 instead of 4-2-1 for the counter trend trades? Would like to confirm this as the examples are all based on 4-2-1 even though 3 lots are used for the regular trade.
Thanks!

mer,

Attached is an EA for regular trades. It is by no means complete or robust. The Mart Series is 1,2,3,5,8,... Fib series. ( If I remember correctly, you suggested using every alternate Fib value in the London BO thread) It does not have any of the filters that Steve has in his EA and is strictly for fine tuning the algorithm. Needless to say, it is not for live accounts.

Anyways, here are some statements which I need verified. My apologies if they are repeats.

If there are no Regular Open trades for a particular day, the levels for the next day are recalculated, the previous day pending orders are deleted and new pending orders are placed with the same lot sizes as the previous day using the current day levels.

If there are open regular trades from the previous day, no new trades are placed using the current day levels. The levels of the previous day are still in play and Scalping and CT trading continues using the previous day levels until the regular trades close- sl or tp. Once regular trades of the previous day are closed, the current day's levels are used to place pending order, etc.

To Summarize:
Basically the start of a sequence of Regular trades, Scalping and CT begins with a clean slate of Pending orders and ends with closing of all Regular orders. Levels for Pending orders are Real Time Levels. CT sequences are initiated once a Regular Trade has opened. Initial pending orders include a Scalp Pending Order

The Scalp trade is placed along with the regular trades, with the one tenth the lot size of a Regular trade and a target of 7% beyond the High Low channel and a loss limit of 10% within.

CT trades are initiated with the breach of the 23, 38 and 50%, 0 being the regular Trade open level with the next respective higher level as target. The lot size ratio for Ct are 4:2:1. Mart factor is applied individually depending on Gain or Loss.

Thanks for your help and Cheers!!!

Should this current sequence of CT trades be based on 4-4-1, instead of 4-2-1?
You need to treat the CT trades as individual trades even though they work together. So, if you have a loss on any CT trade that is triggered, you only increase the lot size on the CT trade that incurred the loss. For example, let's say all three CT trades are triggered and are in play with 4, 2, and 1 lots respectively. Let's say CT 1 and CT 2 have hit their targets but CT 3 reversed immediately after being triggered and stopped out. Now on the next sequence of CT trades, instead of increasing the lot size on all 3 trades, we only increase the lots on CT 3 because it was the only trade that incurred the loss, see? So the new sequence of CT trades would be placed at 4, 2, and 2 lots (1 + 1). The reason you saw 4-4-1 was because CT 1 hit target, but CT 2 did not and CT 3 was never triggered. So the only trade that had a loss was CT 2 so you increase the lot size on the next CT 2 trade to 4 (2 + 2), hence 4-4-1, get it?
Since in this regular trade, 3 lots are used, you would normally use 8-4-2 or 6-3-1.5 instead of 4-2-1 for the counter trend trades? Would like to confirm this as the examples are all based on 4-2-1 even though 3 lots are used for the regular trade.
The 4-2-1 ratio I used in my examples were just to keep things simple and basic. You can use any size ratio you desire, but try and keep it based on a 4-2-1 base like 2-1-.5, 8-4-2, or 16-8-4. The key to using the proper size ratio depends on how many Regular trades you place. If you only place a single trade, you're Counter Trend ratio is smaller because there is a smaller loss that has to be recouped. If you place 3 Regular trades, you might have to use a ratio of 8-4-2 or 6-3-1.5 instead of 4-2-1 to recoup a loss. Remember, the only function of the Counter Trends is to offset any losses from the Regular and Scalp trades.

The Regular Trade ratio is different because some traders will only place one trade and aim for the first target and be done with it. Some will go the multiple trade route (Option 3) and place 3 trades at the break out. If you use Option 3, the first set of Regular trades will always be at a 1-1-1 ratio. If you trade 5 lots then you are placing 3 trades of 5 lots to start and the 5 lots will be your base in calculating new lot sizes on a loss. It's when your Regular trades stop out is where the ratios differ. If you re-read post #7, it's explains the different ratio used with the Regular trades.

"If you use the multiple trade technique (Option 3 in post #2), you have to approach it a little differently. If you open 3 trades at 1 lot each for a total of 3 lots and you incur a loss, how do you increase? Do you just make every trade 2 lots straight across the board? No. Lower targets (123.6) are more likely to hit than the higher targets (161.8), so you want to stagger the lots where it will accomplish the most good. I stagger them in a 3-2-1 pattern, emphasizing the first target which has a higher probability to get hit. It doesn't matter if you get stopped with this configuration because whether you have a 2-2-2 or a 3-2-1 setup, the total loss is still totaling 6 lots."

Correct.
No, on the new day, there are still trades that should be taken that are to be separate from any open trades from the previous day (possibly by using magic numbers to distinguish each day's trades). But yes, once a TP or stop is hit on a Regular trade sequence, no more trading is placed unless a candle closes within the High/Low area of the current day. If we are already into the next day, then we use the next day's values for any new trades or re-entries.
Correct. The only thing on the Scalp trades is if we have a previous day with a very low Daily range, I think we must have an option to skip placing Scalp trades if the Scalp Profit target is less than "X" number of pips away from the entry point. That way, if we get hit with an spread increase or slippage on our entry, we won't get burned.
The Scalp trade is placed along with the regular trades, with the one tenth the lot size of a Regular trade and a target of 7% beyond the High Low channel and a loss limit of 10% within.
Lot size on the Scalp trade should be optional because if you are on a micro account only trading .01 lot Regular trades, you'll also have to place .01 lot Scalp trades because that is the minimum lot size you can use. Yes, 7%, No, 14% (86 fib retracement-(100-86=14))
CT trades are initiated with the breach of the 23, 38 and 50%, 0 being the regular Trade open level with the next respective higher level as target. The lot size ratio for Ct are 4:2:1. Mart factor is applied individually depending on Gain or Loss.
And reverse for the opposite direction (76.4, 61.8, and the 50, 100 being the regular Trade open level with the next respective lower level as target). I would only add the previous lot size on a loss until we can make sure of the likelihood the a large losing sequence will not occur. So instead of 1, 2, 5, 8, etc..., I would just go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and so on on all trades.

Nice system,

Can you tell me what if we have CT trades opened from yesterday, what we have to do? To wait today to close positive or negative and no more trades with yesterdays data we trade only todays levels. But we have a problem, we lose CT lines from yesterday starting new day, how we can know levels where it was?
Next question is: Can we make manual Back testing, because we do not have CT lines in the past maybe we can use this new indicator from Pat1 CRS_OHLC.mq4?

If you have Counter Trend trades open, that means you still have a Regular trade open as well, correct? You'll need to manage these older separately as you will possibly have new trades starting up using the current day's data. Generally, they won't overlap each other too bad because when new Regular trades are made, the Counter Trend trades from the previous day are almost always closed out by then.

To know where the CT lines were, all you have to do is to enter the same fib levels the CT trades use (which are .236, .38.2, .50, .618., and .764) into the Empty4 fib tool and drag the fibs from yesterdays high to the low. Pat's indicator will work if you want to use it for past data. I had to go in to MetaEditor and change the colors and lines styles as it was a bit too confusing for me to look at. He is missing the .86 and .14 fib retracements which are the Scalp stop levels, but you don't really need them added if all you need are the old CT levels.
