From what I noticed, dashboard will round the number without decimal. so that 100 on dashboard, could be RSI 99.5xx on the chart.

But it does not appear to be that value?
Here is a 4 hour chart and a daily. The daily is the closest.
Thanks for the help
Chris

Load the 10.4 template from page one of this thread; that will give you all of the correct indicators.
Okay looks like ver 1.01 has the RSI and version 1.02 has the Stoch.
and in the RSI version it is not applied to the price, but it is applied to the "first indicator's Data" which is the TMA indicator. Also with this setup that puts AUD/CAD pegged at 100.

Thank you for helping me figure that out.

Hi Chris,

Hopefully I got this one right, if this's wrong, somebody correct me plz. If you look at the 10.4 template, look for RSI property, you can find that RSI applied to First Indicator's Data. Usually if you insert new indi the common price would be: open price, close price, high, low etc. In this case I think the First Indicator's Data would be the data obtained from NT TMATrue SlopeHisto MTF indicator which was dragged first to the indicator window.

Sorry, I should have read your post more carefully, you just explained the same thing I did.
Thanks for your help!

Yes it should read 100; I use the RSI version.

Has anyone tried this one?

In the weekly, the pivot is calculated by the previous weekly values, not by the daily. So Sunday bar should not matter. What bug should it fix? I'm curious to understand this... :?
nht wrote: The only problem is that for some strange reason extension lines in both indicators are not showing when you choose to display them for MidPivots. This is beyond my knowledge of MQ4 … , perhaps someone can fix this (?)
Cool, you spot a problem that is in since the beginning.
You can easily fix it. Remove this line in the start() function, right above the objectmove section. Let me know if this fixes the problem. Thanks for finding it!

Code: Select all

if(addMidLevels == true) timeframe_prefix = timeframe_prefix + "Mid ";

Just a stab in the dark Bob. I dont have sunday candles, so I can't test it...
But does this do the trick?
it removes the ugly spike at week start but the pivot values are still not correct on Mondays.
Thanks for your efforts anyway...
Dont worry, I'll get this done the next days...

my closed trades of 06-03-2013

Post by Gertje »

Good morning,

Wasn't able to post much yesterday, due to being out of the office.
Yesterday was the first real trade-closing day of the week, with over 9% balance growth.

I don't want to bore everybody to death with succes-stories, so if people get fed up with me posting too much, please let me know.

I chickened out of GBPAUD, GBPUSD and EURGBP before going to bed last night, all would have reached their set TP till now.

Below my winning trades;

My question is should I hang on to it or is it going to bounce back up? the overall trend is down, it did a huge move over the past few days but now seems to be coming back to rejoining the trend. I have a 2nd order just below the WR. I haven't had much success trading this system so far, but today I seem to be able to see a bit better when the trades are coming and be able to set them up. thanks in advance
websie, the eternal traders dilemma, when & how to take profit, well, occasionally I get one the right way :o

this may not be your answer but something to think about, why not just set a profit target? not the usual "x" pips, but a $$$$ amount?

I know that Steve's excellent MPTM will do that for you, but it is too much for simple trading, but there may be a simple, straight forward EA that does that somewhere here on Hopwood forum?

what I use is shown on the screen of the chart below, you set the dollar amount you want to close trade(s) at and it does so with great effect, you can have as any trades as you want, on as many charts as you want

which may be a problem if you wanted to close only trades on one pair, as I said, there may be a dedicated EA for that, anyone?

as for the chart, I had 3 trades on GBP-USD, sure enough, when I was sure of direction, price retraced as it does with every trade of mine, however this time, it reversed and continued down

as soon as the pre-determined dollar amount reached, I used 5% of balance, all trades closed

now, no matter what happens, you always feel good that you have made your % of balance on your trade(s), you may feel robbed half the time when price continues :x but on the other hand, half the time you feel even better when it retraces :D
Thanks Snowman I will look into your suggestion

grimweasel wrote:Just to keep you all posted on developments I'm up 4% this week currently but trading this system on the Daily charts. I have substituted the H4 240 for the Daily 50 ema which gives me a rough 3.5 Monthly MA. I chose this as I know the 50ema is very important and very well used.

I'm using the system as per all the other H4 rules - it's just that I don't have time or the inclination to keep checking the H4 charts - life is for living and trading should be about making life easy to live - not living to trade.

I've had issues for years trying to counter trend trade all the time but thanks to Bob and his well thought out analysis and methods I now have a system I can believe in because it keeps me on the right side of the trend - and the pivots and RSI stop me from entering at the wrong time too.

Thanks Bob - I will keep you appraised of the daily results...
Interesting - are you still using the Weekly Pivots or Monthly Pivots?
Doc
Yes - only using the weekly pivots and not monthly (yet) as I don't want too much chart clutter!
