Multi 10:4 Trader EA

I've been playing around with the "Take Profit Percentage" feature and I think there is a lot to be gained.

I've tried different percentages and so far a tighter percentage is looking better for the overal performance. Also a lower onset value gives better results. This is over 30 trades or so, so nothing we can build on yet.

Also I monitored the performance of the pairs after they were closed as a basket. My average basket size upon closing is about 6 pairs. In almost every case there is 1 big winner in the basket. The basket closes when this winner is starting to drop. The other 5 pairs in the basket are in between support and resistance levels. If I monitor the pairs after the basket closes, I notice that most of them will prove good investments, as they rise into profits.

I'm more and more assured that we are leaving great profits, by using baskets exits.

We can add an individual % trailing, that way the winner starts to drop and closes, the other pairs can continue.

I've been closing all my winners manually as the get to support or resistance and my trades are up 4% this week.

i second glabbeek on this idea, and appreciate the % trailing stop or JS, BE option on each pair. Theres a reason why 10.4 took those trades in the first place, so looks like with a bit more patience they should all go into profit. If not, then a trend reversal by 10.4 rules should close the position as coded now, but i think its taking out the basket, as opposed to just the pair. I usually hate using SL but i think i'm the minority and an SL might be needed, or wanted by most for many reasons, especially if you plan to trade fully auto and not stare at screens all day.

Hi Andy,

I must say that I was surprised by my first findings. I expected losing trades to trigger the basket exit, but as it turned out the big winner is triggering the exit. I think it is because after a news flash, or a local event, one pair is driven into a relative big profit during a day or two . After the news impact dies out, the spike in the associated currency pair retracts and it will give back some of the winnings. A perfect exit point for that pair, but it hasn't much correlation to other pairs in the basket.

I'm happy to see that you are willing to give this idea a change.

I tend to think you're right Willem-Bram - a tighter TP accompanied by individual trailing stops once in profit might result in much less need for basket management. Andy, I've only four trades open so far this week, firstly an AU long and an XAU short and then over the last few hours a EURGBP short and a GBPAUD long. None have yet gone into profit (currently 1% loss overall) so no profit taking has been possible.

You might remember though that I said I'd whack together a trivial M5 scalping system using basket management? Its been running 6 days now, and is up nearly 10% with negligible DD - I keep waiting for it to fall over & bite the dust, sure to happen eventually

Ah no, NZD isn't on my currency list. Early in my trading career I had a couple of disasters with NZD pairs & swore never to touch them again

The entry rules of the scalp EA are probably best discussed in a different thread, assuming it keeps working, which I seriously doubt though I can't believe its had 6 profitable days in a row. Its also using Alpari, which doesn't exactly have the smallest spreads. If it does keep performing well over a few weeks I'll be happy to share it here, but I really doubt that'll happen seeing how little thought I put into it. Conversely a second M5 scalp basket EA that I put much more work into is consistently losing They're both in the myfxbook systems linked in my sig.

Sorry for this stupid question,

i`m using version 2.0 from the EA. Can you tell me please how to find the 10.4 Template. I´m searching everywhere. I done everything how you describe on post 1. Everything ok. But if i use the chartbutton i get a copy from the ea-window, whithout the buttons refresh grid, close all open, etc.

From post 1:
"In order for the chart buttons to load the correct template, you will need to rename your 10.4 template so it appears in the list first, something like: ####10:4".

I´m a new follower from germany.

Andy you are a true star! The quality, complexity and progress you and the other coders are achieving is truly phenomenal. I also appreciate your vigilance to remain true to NB 10.4 system principals.

I ran v1.08a all last week on Alpari demo with reasonably good results considering the news impact. I have 1.09 loaded up for Monday, can’t wait.
