Re: Simple Indi's to consider for 10.4
Hi Ingot 54
Please clarify: on your Stoch-Indi all settings are x,1,3 and NOT x,3,3. How do you suggest them to be?
Thanks for your Attention, Mike

Thanks Ingot54
Am done reading Spuds Stochastic Thread Theory and i like the way it operate.
But the setting are really different.

Hi Mike - when I created the indicator (Rope Stochastic) I did so from Spudfyre's explanation, I had to get rid of the second Stochastic line ... the %D period.Mike wrote:Hi Ingot 54

Stochastic is made up of %K period ... %D period ... Slowing. There are 2 ways to do this - set up the indicator using for example, 5.1.3, whereupon the %D period is still there, but hidden under the %K period.
The other way is to leave it as 5.3.3 and set the %D period colour to "None."
It is done this way because we do not want to clutter the indicator with too many lines. What we really want to view is the %K period lines. The result is a crisp, clean display, which is useful to "talk" to us.
A third way is to download the .tpl straight from the original FF thread here at post #5:
http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=37111
I enjoyed creating my own, with my own colours, and I also learned a lot about the Empty4 platform and stochastic through doing that. But I have less time available today, and it may be that it is easier for people to just grab the .tpl and use it straight up.
I'd encourage you to read that thread, but the .tpl is attached to get you rolling. I's also say there are other .tpl's over there on the thread too, but I have not explored those - I believe there are charts to show what they look like.
regards
Ivan

I'd like to second that welcome from Mobthehop. I am hoping you will see merit in spending some time with us on SHF.
Over time, we can easily corrupt the way an indicator is used, and I hope that has not happened in this instance. If so, I am sure if I/we reread the original thread, these things can be straightened out a bit.
Perhaps we could begin a new thread to work a bit more on these things - I'd be in for one! I am still (after 6 years) still going back to your work on FF - in fact that's all I do there.

Hope spudfyre doesn't mind, here is a recent example he shared which I found very enlightening - I added his comments inside the image....

Mop - this stuff is too good to be tacked on to this forum. I like what I am seeing above.mobthehop wrote:Hope spudfyre doesn't mind, here is a recent example he shared which I found very enlightening - I added his comments inside the image....

I think it deserves its own thread ... somewhere perhaps more dedicated to the things Spudfyre is currently doing with stochastics.
What do you think? We could then leave this thread for any other indicators that anyone is finding useful to trade Bob's 10.4.
The new thread could carry Spudfyres name which would gain a much wider readership and input/teaching for the forum generally.
Just a thought. If you do begin a new thread ... or Spudfyre does ... post a link to it here so we can find it easily.
Cheers mate

Ivan, dont mind at all and would encourage a dedicated thread, however, such thread should be opened and maintained by spudfyre as this is really is brains / intellectual property..... Would you contact him again and see how he feels about double workload (FF / here).....
Alternatively, I am more than happy to copy over relevant / important posts of his from FF as long as he gives his consent and opens a thread here, so that he maintains ownership of thread and postings!

Hi Ingot,
great thread you've got here enjoying the spud stochastic and other insights you have revealed here.
My small contribution to consider for the thread would be to look at the 120 lwma on the 4 hour chart and see how it interacts with the 240 lwma and price action.
If you take the 240 lwma as the 2 lwma on the monthly then its clear that the signal line itself is the 1 lwma which equates to 120 lwma on the 4 hr.
The 120 lwma signals an earlier change in direction and you can use it as a stop instead of the 240 lwma if preferred
Anyway have a look and see what ya think when you put them on the 1 hr ( 960 AND 480 LWMA) price tends to bounce between the two before changing trend direction.
Nothing set in stone here just an observation that might be useful.
Cheers,
Eamonn.
