After looking at the document, you're right. It's only 3000 pips. The other 500 are from non-JPY pairs....Gertje wrote:Just the 7 majors, Will post details tomorrow.Staedtler wrote:Gertje wrote:I'm going out for Japanese food this weekend; 3500 pips.....

Foreverforex wrote:How you got so many trades this week I don't understand. you're losses are kept very minimal, are you moving to BE after a level? How many levels and what pip spacing were you working with? If you're able to post trade history, I'd love to see times things were placed so I can deconstruct and see what you saw!!
Having a winning week, so not complaining, but want to improve my game (goal of being full time trader someday!)

It comes down to temperament, personality, type of person you are. You are trading like the big boys who sit on trades for weeks or months at a time. 10.4 can easily do that. They use the 200 line I use a 240 so not much difference. I try to keep the system simple so it can be adaptable to trading styles. I mean I never dreamed of 1000 pip days. That was my standard for a week. If I had a 1000 pip week that was a Cadillac week. Now I am hitting 1000 pip days. I mean who knew?? I didnt. I thought when I hit 25% for the month in March I was tickled pink and that was a ranging month. Now that we are getting breakouts ahhhhhhhhhhh the sky is the limit. Right now trading is fairly easy. Everyone knows to sell the JPY. That makes it easy. Just wait for a retrace and pile it on. Reminds me of the Euro in 2011 just sell the heck out of it. The difference between then and now is I have a very clear path to take. Those bounces off of the 240 line are making me a lot of money. I am a 4H chart trader. I am at home there. That is trading the weekly trends which means I take those 20-40 pip pops when they happen and catch the wave once a week. Anyway nothing wrong with either approach. I am just having fun right now. For the first time I feel in complete control of the market. Ride the waves and when it crosses the 240 line ride the new wave. It all comes down now to entrances and exits.garyfritz wrote:Bob, you understand the market moves a lot better than I do. So, question:
Your style seems to be evolving to a fairly quick in & out, grab small moves in the market action, go flat for the weekend. That's tough for me to manage on my schedule. A slower, longer-term approach would work a lot better for me.
What do you think of using 10.4 to get in on moves, and then just let them run until (whatever)? That's what I've been doing for the last few weeks and it's been working well, mostly because of the nice move in AUD. Yesterday I had over 1200 pips open profit on trades I'd opened in the last few weeks. (3 opened April 24-26, 1 on April 30, the rest this week.) The AUD strength yesterday kicked a dent in my open profit (9 of my 11 positions involved AUD) but I'm still doing OK. I'm trailing stops so I don't lose too much when it turns.
I figure these currencies run for weeks or months at a time, so why not ride the whole move, adding positions along the way? E.g. I figure I could have picked up about 800 pips from AUDCAD in the last month, adding positions when 10.4 signaled.
Obviously this won't work so well when currencies turn or go flat. But there seem to be lots of opportunities when they're trending. If they're flat, then that would be the time to go to shorter holds and maybe 10.5 trades. The trick of course will be deciding when to ride trends and when to counter-trade.
I think this was the idea you first proposed with 10.4, but you seem to have evolved away from it, and I'm wondering why. It *seems* to work well for me...
