I am just going over some patterns to give me an idea on several alternative scenarios for tomorrow GBP news announcements...

Looking at the 10.4 four hour chart I have highlighted the last few times when we had sharp price increases. I do this to determine what currency out of the pair could move the market to determine where my TP's are place as well as S/L's if price moves in a different direction from what I set up for.

The last move up was based on JPY weakness so let's hypothesize that if USDJPY was not to break 100 then for a large move up, say to 156.40 would have to see GBP be the driver of the move. As you can see on the GBPUSD chart below there is plenty of potential for a move upwards as price is slightly below WP. Today's price action shows also how quickly it can jump.

Now I am looking at the Daily CSS and I can see USD and JPY one on top of the other. This shows me they are ranging as a pair and unless something changes by tomorrow afternoon the main drive of price with GBPJPY will be GBP strength.

Now we have an interesting scenario where if GBP news comes in positive price will go up quite a bit. After GBP news we will have USD news that will either bring down or range price action or if USD positive will send price really high... maybe a 300+ pip rally...

That is one scenario. Of course we could have negative news on GBP and/or USD to cause a different outcome which is why you look at different scenarios and calculate where price action could go and I set my strategies based on that. :)

May 9th 2013:

Today should be interesting with xxxJPY crosses. Yesterday gameplan is still the same. I will reevaluate once price action shows a definite direction....

May 10th 2013:

GBPJPY price action finally reached 156.30 area... I took profit at my first main TP area which was around the 155.90 area as I was still unsure at the time if USDJPY was going to go above it's WR2 level.

Now I need to look at the market to find some scenarios of where PA could head next and which ones are worth trading... Today is Friday and there is G7 meetings today...

Taking my first 4 hour TF look today on GBPJPY pair I am looking at a scenario where it might be prudent to set Buy-limits at 153.80-90 area and 153.20-40 area for another push up on a swing trade. If PA gets down to these levels we might even see a spike low towards the 240ma level before an aggressive rebound...

This is just one picture still far off so it can very easily change. Right now I am looking for patterns to substantiate higher probability trades on the swing trade.

Here is a intraday picture that says if retracement does start and PA breaks and closes below HA line on the 15 minute chart look to to sell a position with a TP around 154.60-80 level. This is a counter-trend position so keep your risk low....

Well I decided to take a small counter trend position. Simple channel line entrance where PA broke bottom trend line on 15 minute chart as well as HA line... TP will be at 155.08 area....

May 11 2013:

Looking back at last week my biggest criticism I have for myself is jumping the gun... i.e I took too many trades before PA reverse back up. The problem I have with this pair is I know it will continue to be a bull market so I let slip a rule I have concerning floating drawdown... I will reapply that rule even though the market wants to go up and up and up... Sometimes the market will move in unexpected ways and I do not want to be caught out when it happens... :)

Looking towards next week I have two levels that will look enticing to add new buy limits in GBPJPY pair. Those two levels are 153.80-00 and 153.20-40 areas. I especially will look to be aggressive at the 153.20 level in buy limits...

I will know better what are the probabilities early next week...
