All ports used up on windows 7 machine

Do you really want to act on every tick? As you said sometimes that's too fast. Other times it may be too slow?

You could put the EA into a loop and look once per second or whatever. That would probably prevent runnung out of ports...?

I seem to remember there are reasons why you don't want to put loops in init() -- i.e. it has to return from init() to finish setting things up or something -- but I'm not sure.

Just put the loop in start() and never exit the function. But once per minute!? For a trade copier you want a lot better response than that! I'd loop once per second or so.
