Hi Khalaad,

Thanks very much to you and Steve Hopwood for creating this EA.

It is trading currency pairs very nicely, but just does not send any trades for US30 index.

The EA is installed in an FXCM Empty4 platform.

I have made sure the lot size is minimum 1, increase the maximum spread artificially to 100 just in case this is the problem, increase buffer pips to 1, increased the hidden pips to 100, and the EA icon has a smiley face.

No error messages in the EXPERTS or JOURNAL folder.

After two days, still no trade. Any idea why this is so ?

P.S. I like the strategy a lot because the 1 lwma close open cross occurs very early during a reversal and pending order above/below the signal bar just confirms the breakout, and trading in the direction of the prevailing trend just makes this a very simple mechanical method to use.

It would be quite nice if the same trades could be taken by the SwingOne EA.

My H4 charts on 10 currency pairs are trading nicely and I shall be posting the results at the end of the week. Right now, it is up 130 pips, trading 0.1 lots for long and short on a $10k demo.

Hi Peter,

I haven't tested for non-pair symbols (not offered in my crim) so not sure what the issue may be at the moment.

Can you please confirm some basics we can troubleshoot this:
- When the two MAs cross do you see the text on your chart updated from Cross status: none to either up or down?
- At the next bar after this cross you should see a dotted line on your chart displaying the pending buy/sell target price. Can you please confirm you see this?
- Would be useful if you can post your experts log file. You can find this file as Empty4/experts/log/<date>.log.

Thank you. Let's hope we can make this work.

For the moment nothing going right at my end. After (forced) missing all the right trades, the EA has taken 2 EURUSD Longs in the very same minute.

Hi Khalid,

The EA should continue working unless the myfxbook EA is on the same chart.

There was an issue with intermittent duplicate trades in an earlier version but resolved this one and could not replicate any other duplicate trades in my testing. There must either be another issue causing this; or can the EA be running on multiple charts?

Thank you very much for coming to the rescue. Your help is very much appreciated.

At 5.24 am gmt today, US30 M5 chart, the fast ma crosses above the slow ma. Cross status = up. The pending buy order line was drawn. The next bar crossed the po line, but no trade. The Experts log says spread 6 too high. But I had already set the max spread to an artificial level of 200000. Still no trade.

I have attached the Experts log file below.

Hope I am not wasting your time as I am sure you have more important things to attend to. In any case, let me repeat THANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP !

I couldn't see how a spread of 6 would be higher than your limit so I downloaded the FXCM Empty4 and opened a demo account. I must be doing something wrong - how do you see the US30 chart? Do you need to connect to a particular demo server?

Also please use the attached new version. This version prints MaxSpread so we can see what is happening.

I have been using FXCM Empty4 demo for several years now, and they always have all the major stock indices under CFD min 1. I will try to upload a copy of the setup application if possible. I just setup the software as normal, don't think there is a special demo server.

Thanks for sending the installer. I could see the US30 with this one; so then found and fixed the issue. Please see updated version attached.

This should probably go to the Shell EA.

The issue occurs as the symbol US30 has 0 digits! In addition to failing the spread check, SL and TP would always be set to 0 with this one so it is quite dangerous.

Simplest solution is; in init:

How to trade 2 lots instead of 1 even when the EA is configured to trade only 1 lot.

Here's how:

Have 2 MT4s with the same account and password, install and activate EA on one Empty4 only; but leave both MT4s running.

I assure you will get 2 lots for 1.

Hi Khalid,

This is a bit strange. I had something similar happen to me once when an EA kept running after removing it from the chart; and another time after pressing the green Expert Advisors button on top to disable EAs. My solution is to restart Empty4 after such changes; just to be sure

However running two MT4s with same account is OK and should not cause this issue.

Quite a bit of mystery, this one...
