God lines affect NanningBob results

God lines affect NanningBob results
---------------------------------------
This EA works best when the trend is undisturbed by turbulence from the past:

I was wondering why some results from USDJPY were not so good.

The attachment shows a weekly view around March 2013 with some powerful God lines.

This weekly view clearly shows extra high volatility - which means stop trading or change strategy because retracements are likely to hit our stop losses.

Tracing the source of God Lines
----------------------------------
Its always easy to add these lines after the fact because before hand they are just potential areas of interest. Why do market movers get feisty in these areas, or are they just puppets of greater forces?

The next attachment shows the source of the God lines going back to 2002, and maybe there are even more powerful lines which go back further creating a confluence of confusion in the forex psyche.

Surviving the excess volitility

Post by snailbeard »

So what can we add to the 10:4 EA to avoid trading in difficult conditions?

Options
(a) identify long distance predictors (lines and channels)
(b) measure recent weekly volatility compared to good volitility
(c) revisit CSS (Currency Slope Strength)

The attachment shows weekly CSS and perhaps scope for warning of difficult times ahead:

Prepare to loose your money

Post by snailbeard »

Just a reminder that you will loose money if you use this EA in choppy markets. We might be coming into a period of instability due to currency wars, so retracements will rocket past the stop-losses.

This EA is reasonably mature, it just needs one more enhancement to detect high volatility for each pair and stop trading that pair until normal volatility returns.

Any suggestions?
ATR might work:

Hello SnailBeard,

Although you might be right, so far the EA hasn't given a signal that would require a volatility filter.
This is maybe because the markets have been strong, but as long as the EA working, I wouldn't fix a problem that isn't there.

Off course this is my opinion, based on my settings for the EA.

This week again 7,5% profit, but only 3 trades.

Still going strong.

ATR5 on H4 peaks and valleys

Post by snailbeard »

Difficult trading conditions and reversals occurs around the peaks and valleys of ATR(5) on H4.

Two forex demi-gods (blue and yellow) fight it out - who wins?

On the demo accounts I have had some big losers as well as big winners.
Are you running total Auto or intervening to manage the pairs and trades?
Back testing shows periods of great success and periods of losses.

I'm trading fully automated, so no intervening. Also I don't close trades during the weekends.
I only exit when the MA get's crossed (loss), or when a pairs starts to retract after reaching a profit of at least 0.67%.

Here are the trades of the last 3 weeks. Pepper$tone Demo

Thanks for sharing glabbeek
Obviously you are not using OOTB by the last statement. And I don't think you are using CSS by the number of trades.
They are reasonable stats for fully automated. Would you care to share your settings for comparison purposes.
