But look at e.g. GBP and JPY on H4 CSS. They are also parallel in that period, about the same distance as CAD and JPY. But even though GBP is + and JPY is -, GBPJPY went DOWN since 5.28 12:00.

I believe close parallel flat lines don't have any predictable direction. You need a significant distance to get a clear signal.
Excerpt from CSS section in Bob's PDF:

"I know the gbp is accelerating and usd is accelerating at approximately the same angle. Not much price movement, at best they will range. This holds true if the angle is the same for decelerating or both are level. Price will be ranging."

Dave.

EDIT: Jeremy posted while I was looking for this quote - spot on imo.

1. CSS is red so not a good time to enter, However if it was
2. buy pending at DP, DR1 and TP at WS1 would be the setup.
3. BUY LIMIT at WP
4. RED bar CSS is telling us to wait
thanks..

so if the h4 RSI is pinned at the bottom + gold rod .. then its near the WP..+ ema 240 on h4 is on the bottom of the current price

i will go now to h1.. then on h1. if the css is red , i will not put PENDING? or i will put pending if its green.. ? sorry for my question ..

edit: i read the PDF i know now the answer..

CSS, CAD crossing down over a rising JPY.
Hm. CAD crossing down over rising JPY, so you must be looking at the D1 CSS. I wouldn't have expected that for a short-hold strategy like you're describing. Meanwhile on the H4, CAD and JPY have been nearly parallel for the last 24 hours. Which is odd considering CADJPY has dropped 200 pips in that period!?
Yes Gary I was and only look at the Daily CSS and trade the 4H charts. I never look at the CSS 4H, far too much noise in there. You are quite correct I would not have expected that either for a short hold strategy but it works.. 19 for 19 at the moment and a trading account which has done a 180 degree turn.

However I do not blindly trade pairs from the CSS just because of the angles, for example a pair which catches the eye on the CSS Daily, CADCHF sadly does not catch the eye on the 4H chart. Had what has happened in the last 12 hours done so 60 pips higher up then I would be most interested.

I use what I see on the CSS Daily only to hone me into possible trades that is all. I then look at all the 10.4 criteria, a trend-line or two, candlestick analysis and where possible a bit of Captain Jacks enlightened teachings but to be honest the 3rd eye has still not fully formed yet.

For tomorrow morning I will be looking at a sell on the GBPJPY, hoping for a slight rise tonight but if the price remains where it is then the strong support line just below the WMS1 is far enough away for me to scale in a trade or two for my 1% target. Have not decided yet, I will see what the charts offer up in the morning.

I don't think this is necessarily the case. For me the numbers down the right hand side are not as relevant as the direction of the lines. The numbers could be close together but the lines angles in different directions, having crossed or "kissed" or about to cross, which could translate in to a good move.

Alternatively the values may be far apart but the lines converging - take AUD and JPY in your example on the H4 - JPY is at the top and AUD at the bottom but I know before I even look at a chart that AUDJPY would have been going UP after the highlighted area not down as you would expect if you were taking the values on the right hand side as a direct indication of each of the currency's strengths.

I will try to show this - laptop being very slow. :(

Ok - hopefully you can see what I mean.

Cheers,
Dave.

Trading is Blood, Sweat, and Tears.

Dont you just love ranging markets? Lets play a new game today. Guess who breaks out of the pack.

What goes up must come down
spinning wheel got to go round
Talking about your troubles it's a crying sin

Ride a painted pony
Let the spinning wheel spin

You got no money, and you, you got no home
Spinning wheel, spinning all alone
Talking about your troubles and you, you never learn

Ride a painted pony
let the spinning wheel turn

Did you find a directing sign
on the straight and narrow highway?
Would you mind a reflecting sign

Just let it shine within your mind
And show you the colours that are real

Hi Dave
Yes you are right, I elected not to go into too much detail and explain the slope, converging, diverging to someone who has not used the CSS for it would have most likely confused him/her.
For me the momentum and direction of the CSS is, as you explained important.

Fair enough :) Hopefully it helped a few people anyway.

At the top of the info screen it says - "4H daily moves -- D1 Weekly moves" i.e. the D1 CSS is a longer term picture. If you get H4 heading in the same direction as/in agreement with D1....bingo.

It looks as if H4 NZDJPY is ranging to me - the lines are pretty much parallel. As Bob just posted - the whole lot are pretty much ranging on H4. I am just going to see if any break out in the same direction as the D1 CSS.

Cheers,
Dave.
