What´s there to code? Never change a working system.
I don´t use one-click trading or any of that fancy stuff. I was very happy with version 452.

I am also demo testing Trader's Way (Start capital 50$) and yes this realy rock!!! And i think Global Prime realy must add this platform and is no initial cost for brokers !!! And they are small very flexible team....and on the platform they have also feedback button for suggestion's - i realy like this platform...

We got the same issue, while backtesting under Empty4 w/ older release (481 or 482 if I remember well). We were using the script Bird' patch 445 in the chart, and backtesting w/ history

Suddenly, the backtest stopped w/o having any manual update from our side......

So, these limitations bothered me a lot.
Another issue I found. If you set an EA running on a chart (this expert using some DLLs) and if you put an indicator (DF.MQ4) using one of this DLLs (DF.dll) used by the robot too, the expert will go insaned.

That's why I am looking for a better reliable platform than the stupid Empty4, on which brokers are able to download our codes from remote......

Fro the last 2 or 3 years I have deleted all indicators and EA's etc from the standard Empty4 folders and inserted only the particular ones I wish to use. No point in carrying extra unused baggage. Dont know if this does help but so far have not had any problems with Empty4 500

For those considering cTrader, there's two issues I've found with it. One is an annoyance - I make a change to an indicator in cAlgo, rebuild it, but cTrader doesn't see the change. I have to restart cTrader for the new version of the indicator to be loaded.

Secondly, and this is more serious, you only have the data your broker provides for you, which goes back a very limited time period same as they do with Empty4. Unlike Empty4 you cannot load your own data, which means that while you can develop a sophisticated EA you have no means of running backtests over years of trading. I know not everyone believes in backtests (probably because Empty4's backtests are rubbish) but personally I'll never trade an EA with live money unless I see robust performance over a long time period, and with cTrader as it currently stands that's impossible.

There's a thread about the data issue on the cTrader forums (http://ctdn.com/forum/cbot-support/407) if anyone wants to chime in and encourage them to make it right.

I used Amibroker before, great backtester. The reason I switched to Empty4 is the order commands and the connection to the brokers. When you write code in Amibroker (aAFL) you need to write your own interface for connection to the broker, and it's a bit clunky and I dare say unreliable. If Amibroker were to have built-in code to take care of orders to the server I would really like it. They need to make some deals with brokers and have some sort of back end.

The other issue, Amibroker is not free, but its relatively cheap.

As far as Empty4 - I'm sure they have future plans such as following traders (already implemented) so they are adjusting to their future vision. You will probably see all the trade copier dll's like MT4i not allowed any longer, so if you want to copy traders one day, they will get a piece of the action...somehow.

The way to make them listen is to beat them with a money stick, and the brokers have these sticks. We need email addy's of the senior people at the brokers who are involved in these decisions, people who can make things happen at a broker (not the support guy). Maybe Jem can tell us the "position" that such a person would have in most brokers. The email would say something like "fix these issues or I'm outta here and I'm taking my money with me." (no need to say where or what you will use to trade).

So far version 500 has done me only a little harm, wouldn't it be nice if they fixed the backtester! Of course they won't, they won't make much coin from that.

There's no way to get back, as Empty4 updates are now mandatory. Its just one of many concerning changes they've introduced, along with banning software from MT4i and breaking myfxbook's autoupdate method. Who knows what they have planned next, but we can rest assured that they don't care less about the interests of traders.

I'm beginning a transition to cTrader while looking for other platforms (cTrader is great but has some oddities of its own).

Time to start a campaign to encourage the brokers to deal with this - it is the brokers who pay these cowboys wages and who ultimately need us retail traders to make any money. Not sure how to go about this, but I do have an entire forum that I can energise.

Any suggestions?

The burden is on the programmers. If Empty4 code, indicators and EAs, can be converted to cTrader, this revolution may have a real possibility.
