It'd be nice to be able to stop auto-updating, but I'd question how useful that is given that MQ can and will force an update by making the server refuse to allow old clients to connect.

That would be another story, if they can refuse u logging in because u don't have the latest update is another story, however if some of you want an older version 419 - 425 or something just ask.

Go to ur folder view and untick hide system files, go to ur Empty4 folder and there u can find the auto update program visible in a hidden format but visible, just delete it.

Sorry, but you are wrong... If you see any liveupdate.exe, it is an obsolete file from previous versions. Did not tracked it at 100% but the exe is included in the main "terminal.exe" since build 48x (x=2 or 3). The only way preventing updates it is denying admin access when prompted. Or go back to 451/452 build and delete the "liveupdate.exe".

regard the ban of older versions, they officially says that: "Attention! From August 1, 2013 client terminals older than build 439 will be no longer supported. In this regard, we strongly recommend all our clients to install the updates and encourage traders to update their trading terminals to build 500 as soon as possible."

Yes, would be but I've doubt it is so possible... But could be.. Knowing a hacker?

For those considering cTrader, there's two issues I've found with it. One is an annoyance - I make a change to an indicator in cAlgo, rebuild it, but cTrader doesn't see the change. I have to restart cTrader for the new version of the indicator to be loaded.

Secondly, and this is more serious, you only have the data your broker provides for you, which goes back a very limited time period same as they do with Empty4. Unlike Empty4 you cannot load your own data, which means that while you can develop a sophisticated EA you have no means of running backtests over years of trading. I know not everyone believes in backtests (probably because Empty4's backtests are rubbish) but personally I'll never trade an EA with live money unless I see robust performance over a long time period, and with cTrader as it currently stands that's impossible.

There's a thread about the data issue on the cTrader forums (http://ctdn.com/forum/cbot-support/407) if anyone wants to chime in and encourage them to make it right.

More cAlgo problems - backtesting is slow, and there's no optimization at all. If you don't use them its obviously not an issue, but to be honest I'd have expected better :\ http://www.icmarkets.com has cTrader/cAlgo demos if anyone wants to check it out.

Got to hope a good alternative that provides for sophisticated EA development with accurate & fast backtesting (with optimization) presents itself soon. I really do not want to have to rely on Empty4 any longer...

ProRealTime (https://www.prorealtime.com/en/popup-wi ... plete_10_1) is introducing automated trading in its new version, but the programming language behind it is a bit limited & similar to cAlgo - limited backtest data + no optimization. Its GUI is awesome though, for what that's worth. Apparently you can trade directly through this software now (https://www.prorealtime.com/en/activatetrading), which is new to this version.

I was thinking of moving my Operations to GLOBAL PRIME very very Shortly but if they Incoporate the C Trader Platform I'll move all my Funds there like 2 Morrow .
I am checking this C Trader Platform out on a DEMO with ic Markets, the One thing I am not sure of is If I can Put your SS Indicator on the C Trader Platform or better still can you Code the SS Indicator for Use on the C Trader Platform, if you Can then Hell Yeah I am Game !

Oh, I like the Layout of this Platform, Playing around with it now , I can actually take a Chat Short on the Platform :!: wow this feels like a Breath of Fresh Air....

the Empty4-update is now controlled by a different terminal.exe, can be found in:
C:\ProgramData\MetaQuotes\WebInstall\mt4clw\

the 'ProgramData' folder is hidden, you have to make hidden files visible first. just rename this exe, no autoupdate-prompt anymore.

this works with windows7, under other os it might be a different path.

Hm, my [...]\mt4clw\ is empty. Is this using 500 on a clean PC?

If you look at the terminal.exe size before and after, it looks like they integrated the liveupdate into the terminal.exe
