got pretty busy with family & work, plus not much work has been done on this project and the next version, therefore i only occasionally visit the site nowadays. hopefully after summer i'll have more time to work on next version.

Just installed the editor in the terminal directory and renamed metaeditor and named Scite-mql metaeditor.exe and did the mklink thing .....like i usually do and I'm getting this..
"Upgrade MQL4 editor to the latest 509 build or reinstall" in the journal.
Is 509 screwing us? Or am I just stupid...
I figure it's probably both of the above.....

where do i find operating rules? If anyone sees what my error is, please help. i am getting an error trying to compile a couple of programs where it says"expression on global scope not allowed" when i have variables first defined. for instance: double m13s; is placed before init(), and then the program also alarms: "'m13' - variable not defined" when i try to use it. I am not seeing any difference between the statement of that and the next variable (int m13o), which works fine. both are then referenced ibolow the 'start()' statement.

This is a classic example of how unhelpful CrapQl4 is and is nowt to do with the ide.

Somewhere earlier in your code, you have made a mistake that CrapQl4 has not reported accurately. Instead, it generates an error further down the line where you have no chance of finding the actual error. You will have missed out an ; or confused } with a ) or something.

That is why I do a recompile every time I add a line of code, or initially create a construct such as:

Good luck finding your bloop. When you find it, it will be obvious. Until then, you will tear your hair out.

sounds like you have a closing curly bracket in the wrong place.. once you put an extra } in there you are out of the function and then the code below it is in the global area between functions.. happy hunting...oh.. and M13 is not the same as M13s.. and why is this in this thread?
...on another note... Steve.. are you able to get the Scite-mql to work with the latest mtcrap version 509?.. I like being able to fool it into using the good editor.... is that a thing of the past?...

I appear to be on build 507 - GP live account and coding demo.

Every time I started up my coding machine, I found my metaeditorcrap replaced by Scite was re-replaced by metaeditorcrap. I have discovered from this that creating a desktop shortcut to Scite is a better alternative to using the F4 key from within Empty4 - Scite reloads with my exit files in place and with all their formatting/bookmarks etc.

To open a different file, ctrl-O from within Scite is a better alternative to trying to open it via the Navigator window in Empty4.

These are wonderful examples of those bloody morons at CrapperTrader forcing me to use alternative software in a more constructive fashion. Stupid bastards.

Jim, I would usually agree with you in your implied criticism, but this thread rarely raises a mention and so many newcomers who are also coders, must miss this fantastic piece of software. Perhaps better to encourage as much discussion here so it comes to peoples' attention, even if the discussion is not actually relevant to Scite?
