If I may; a question for the masses, veterans, and experts:

For the most part I think I now have a solid ritual for monitoring pairs under 10.4, both classic and Jem rule sets.

My question is regarding pivot levels. I find myself going down the mental checklist when evaluating pairs and often get confused/gun shy when it comes to the pivots.

For example:

1. We're under the 240 - check!
2. RSI has pinned to the top - awesome!
3. CSS is green but they're pointing to each other and it's looking like it's about to go gold on H1 - Showtime!
4. Price is sitting in no-man's land, in between WP and WS - hmmm...

In general, is there any pivot situation (besides being outside weekly S/R) that would cause somebody to walk away from an otherwise good setup? Or does the location of price just change where you would put your pendings, TP, and SL? According to rule# 2, we're to wait for a retracement, but I see folks posting successful trades that seem to be between the pivots.

Thanks in advance,

Lan

This thread has nothing to do with pivot entries, however they (pivots) can be used as possible TP levels.

There are guys here who should be grateful that this is not my thread. Mind, much more and they will learn why. Poor Jem is discovering why Bob occasionally explodes.

Never mind Jem. Hang on in there; those of us with the occasional firing synapse appreciate what you are doing here. *sits on hands and refrains from typing some honest responses to some of the stuff 'contributed' here today*

Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. pianodoodler@hotmail.com is the account.

FWIW, this is how I use them and what my CSS colour change script uses to set tp's.

In reality, an H1 trade is likely to close long before reaching such a tp, but occasionally a trade will run that far and won't that be fun? Wow. It will happen occasionally guys.

1. Wait for a decent retracement. Better if price is at a pivot or support (WP, WS1, WS2, MS1, MS2)
-> so even if it retrace to MS2 you will enter a position too?

Yes, I'll enter anywhere that has good R:R for a trade

4. Risk 1% per trade and place stop "out of reach*" using Easy Order to calculate the position size.
-> i assume this stop is purely for times when price spikes away from you?

I never want a full stopout. It's important to give the SL enough distance so there's a chance to close the trade if H1 CSS closes opposite way before it hits the SL. At the same time it should give you at least 1:1 R:R to the TP so if the SL is 180 pips away the TP of WS1 or WR1 should be 180 pips or more away from entry.

5. Aim for TP of WR1 OR close any trade early if the H1 CSS colour changes back to red (or grey if extra cautious).
-> even if i enter at MS2 i aim for WR1? or do you go level by level?

Yes TP always WR1 or WS1

6. i assume you are trading the weekly pivots, and you ignore the daily pivots?

Correct, I don't use DP

Please remember this is intended to be a manual strategy and an EA will never have the gut feel that a trader gets about a trade. I enter and exit way before the colour changes sometimes but the main idea stays the same.

Cheers,
J
Thx jem, will take a look at this. I'm not looking for a perfect EA, just something that can supplement, 10% per month would more than suffice for something that is set and forget :)
I've been trading using OM Dual N EA for the past 2 years, live results can be found over at https://www.fxblue.com/users/kwanann

Jakatarung ... your statement just reflects the education you may have gotten over at FF.

It is standard for FF members to want to hang another indicator ... anything ... off a strategy that is working perfectly as designed and presented. Hey - I did it myself!

You will meet with harsh rebuke for bringing that mentality here.

This forum is waaaaay beyond that.
The quality of the people who are starting these threads ensures there is no need to change anything.
The strategies have been P-R-O-V-E-N and forward tested by experts. People have no idea how foolish it looks to want add a favourite indicator to strategies presented by people like Jemook and Nanningbob.

As mentioned - I fell for it too, but quickly woke up to myself and aligned myself with the higher teaching you will get nowhere else on the Internet for free.

NOWHERE ELSE!

My best advice: (also free :) ) is to read ... read ... read... read ... x 1000
Then if you still want to use a certain indicator, go back and read some more.

Or start a thread.

Hello peeps,

I'm starting to have a dabble with this as I'm terrible at Manual trading.

I noticed it says in the (long) checklist to trade from the weekly pivot or the weekly support.

Support I can see the logic as I assume the price is likely to bounce up from here, but I thought that the pivot point is the price that that it will continue to pass by, on its merry way before bouncing off the support, correct me if I'm wrong as I'm still a useless newb with all this :)

Cheers!

Bod.
