Antimartingale

Post by jmatheny81 »

I don't have a lot of time to experiment different ideas because of my work schedule, but I do have a lot of to think. The other day I was thinking about the first EA that sucked me into forex. It was a martingale style EA and it was horrible. It made some very small profits, then crashed my account when the market turned. I was thinking what if you could have the opposite. One that would give you some small losses, but then blow up for a positive gain. I got on google to see if someone had already done it and found the following EA. It isn't exactly what I had in mind, but similar and looks like it has some potential.

The EA is not a hands free Auto Trader. You must start the trade and chose for it to buy, sell, or both. It will place stops of whichever you choose and run until it closes in profit. If it goes away from you and hits the stop, it will have a small loss and it will set your next stop. If it goes in your favor, it will open another trade and continue to add trades until the profit level is hit. At that point, It does not require hedging, even in bi directional mode. It does not seem to be fifo friendly though. Backtesting will only work in visual mode because you have to start it manually. I ran a week backtest on the EURUSD and it was positive (around $20 with .01 lot size I think). I am also running a demo account with 6 pairs that is currently up $19.30 with $5 more in floating profit. That is all with default settings and constantly running in bi directional mode. On another demo I started yesterday, I am using a stop_distance of 15 and am currently up $5.33 with about $10 in floating profit. I briefly tried a stop_distance of 5 and it was not looking good. Please try your own numbers and see what happens.

I did notice one bug where it opened 3 GBPUSD trades at once. I closed 2 of them at $0 profit to keep results accurate. It may have potential, but I am not planning on trading it live until the beginning of the new year and do not recommend anyone go live without plenty of testing on demo.

If you download the .mq4 file, you will need the common_functions.mqh and offline_charts.mqh to compile it. Please read the instructions on the site for set up and use instructions. I did not create this, so what you see is what I know.

I've played with this in the past but didn't have enough time to figure out how the guts of the EA work.
I slapped it on demo today and put some lines in at daily supply/demand levels to see how it trades in real time.
