I have been noticing several common "themes" of problems that keep coming up on this forum and over at FF.
These themes relate to problems or frustrations of traders, coders, and testers. I have seen bits and pieces of potential solutions but nothing really conclusive. I know we have all bumped into these at some time or other. I say lets work on these areas till we have an actual, conclusive solution! If at the end we find it can't be done, so be it. Let's not let that get in our way for now.
Some examples -- in my order of importance:
- -- Time, DST and Broker offset (Having a Universal Time/Universal Chart that can be broker independent)
-- "Show Trades" module (live, visual, chart plot reference of trades)
-- "Filtering the Flat" (Any and all possible methods of detecting and avoiding the dreaded "chop" market condition)
I am going to start a separate post on each one of the "problems" that I can think of right now.
I am suggesting that potential solutions could be referred to as "modules". Whatever the solution is, the point is to try and use it in all our EAs.
A couple of the problems may have answers that are not strictly coding related but are trading, trading experience, or indicator related. These are just as welcome! It should be more understandable as we go along.
