Thank you for keeping the flag flying.
I completed my backtesting on MultiCharts Monday and since remained quite preoccupied improving the EA (and didn’t even visit the Forum).
Implementing the back test finding is going to be a major task, and shall be done in due course. Meanwhile, I am making:
• Hanover (2 days) a default setting; and
• exit at LowerLow, or HigherHigh, a user selectable option.
I respect you position on, and also understand your reasons for, this. However, over the years I have found taking profits can severely limit your gains over the longer run. Indeed, there is some thuth in the saying: "You can go broke taking profits."fx8000 wrote:Hi Khalid,
I woud like to suggest adding MM as an option i.e. close basket at xx% of equity profit per day.
The balance was up 4% on Monday and another 4% on Tuesday, only to lose it all following the Chicago PMI news release which sent the market into a risk off mode.

Also, the Hanove trend filter is extremely cpu hungry. I would like to suggest the All Averages trend filter which works well with other EA's.Here is what I suggest: disable in the Hanover indicator all time frames you do not need. All Averages will never do what Hanover does.fx8000 wrote:With the Hanover trend filter removed, the EA just missed two long entries following a break of the previuos 4hr bar on the EURUSD and AUDUSD (marked by horizontal blue line). Not sure why.
I noticed from you DumpHistory, and my DumpHistory, the EA giving back 2/3 of the Run-ups. Therefore, I have designed possible solutions for this. For the time being, however, the exit at LowerLow, or HigherHigh should help.fx8000 wrote: However, it did execute a long on the GBPUSD which went as high as 70 pips before retracing.
Despite all the problems I have had with my demo accounts, I know from actual real money trading that 1 period and 2 period, swing charts do work. It is only a matter of combining everything as a workable strategy.fx8000 wrote:Presently, the account balance is showing a gain of 13%'

I am extremely grateful for you valuable feedback.
Please keep posting, even if I happen not to agree with you.

Absolutely right, Khalid. Too many people think that banking a small profit is a guaranteed way to success. But if you don't let your system run up larger profits, your W:L ratio changes. Your losers might start overwhelming your tiny wins. You can turn a winning system into a loser doing that.Khalaad wrote:However, over the years I have found taking profits can severely limit your gains over the longer run. Hanover trend filter back on the charts with Recent Strength enabled for H4 only.
Any idea why the EA missed the trades for EU and AU ?

Thank you.

That assumes, of course, that you have a trending system/market. If you're trading a reversing / mean-reverting system, there isn't any trend to ride. For systems like that you have to grab small profits before they disappear. But that doesn't apply to SwingONE.
