Andy, why do you use the 21 EMA and 55 EMA for MA stack confirmation?

:D
Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. pianodoodler@hotmail.com is the account.

I found a bloop in the stop loss calculation function that I introduced when adding Stacking, so the three of you who downloaded 1i need to re-download. Sorry about that.

I forgot to explain that Stack trades should have StopLossPips automatically divided by 2.

It looks as if StopLossPips is being halved for all trades, not just Stacked ones

SteveHopwood wrote: Trade stacking. DO NOT USE THIS HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL FEATURE ON LIVE ACCOUNTS YET
The idea is that when a market takes off strongly, taking extra trades as it moves builds up a strong and highly profitable position.

I have coded a somewhat unrefined strategy that takes new trades every time the market moves x pips in our favour. It is neither a Main nor a Re-entry trade. It could be that we need Stack trades to meet re-entry criteria - we shall have to experiment and see.

MaxTradesAllowed is the input that allows/disallows stacking. The default of 1 allows BASA only one trade at a time, effectively turning off stacking.
StackDistancePips is the minimum pips distance between trades if stacking is allowed.
This sounds awesome....I really hope it works :D

I'm quite sure this is not how stacking is built to work but this is what my thinking is for stack trades at this stage (and really don't know if this is even possible to code)...

* Enter trade (doesn't matter if Main/Re-entry) - call it TRADE A
* Set fixed TP of 300, SL ATR x 2, JS 50, BE +2 30
* Set trades to stack at 50 pip
* Set MaxTradesAllowed to 6
* Price moves nicely in the required direction, reaches BE, then hit's +50, TRADE B is taken (this time though only set a TP of 250 pips (looking to reach our initial 300 pip TP)
* Price continues to as expected and hits +100, TRADE C is taken (TP 200 pips) BUT have TRADE A closed & pocket 100 pips profit (so we only have 2 open trades at any one time)
* Price continues, hits +150, TRADE D is opened (TP 150 pips), TRADE B closed for 100 pips profit (again still only 2 trades open)
* Moving on, +200 pips, TRADE E is taken (TP 100 pips), TRADE C closed for 100 pips profit
* Then +250 pips, TRADE F (this is the last trade) is taken (TP 50 pips), TRADE D closed for 100 pips
profit
* All going well we hit our original 300 pip level when both TRADE E & TRADE F close for 100 pips & 50 pips respectively.
* Obviously at any time our BE/JS could be hit and all trades closed[/list]

How's that for a wish list :lol:

Fibonacci numbers, I've always used them, drop a 55 or 21 on a chart and most pairs respect them.

SteveHopwood wrote:V 1i is in post one. Turning off re-entry trades works now.

Adding the stacking code broke the logic that told BASA to stop looking for trades when there was neither a Main or a Re-entry trade, so it thought there was a re-entry trade whenever the market was on the correct side of the 60.

It is behaving on my account now, so over to you Shelley for your research this weekend.

:D
Thanks Steve...looking forward to this, I'll be setting up a new demo with stacking turned on :D

Have done. A quick glance at a few losers and couple of winners show how stacking the 21 and 55 EMA would have kept us out of some bad trades.

I suggest you include this in your research this weekend Shelley. I am going to code it into BASA.
