I`d like to pick your brain again if I can.
Would there be a way to set MPTM to manage all pairs, however to treat each one differently in the terms of setting the initial SL and TP? I know I could do that by inserting the manager on each pair and modify it accordingly but I wonder if that can be avoided and keep it pasted as one instance only.

thanks very much
Hallo Tommiho,

I've given it some thought, and unfortunately I don't know any way how :(, sorry

You are trying to use the manager to manage stuff light years beyond that it was designed to cope with.

You probably can do what you want to do, but will have to use a script to send all your trades with different magic numbers. Then you can set mptm to manage the various combos including magic numbers.

Think about this. My experience of trying to trade ridiculously complicated combinations of stuff (and yes, yours sounds ludicrous) leads to disaster.

Instead of trying to force mptm to manage your lunacy, how about simplifying your trading? Ignore me if you want, but you will be sorry.

Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Hi Steve,

Would it be possible to add one more type of exit to the MPTM?

I'm looking for an exit after n-number of days (bars would work as well). This exit is not used for real trading, but for testing on a demo account.

The n-day exit is often used to have a non bias exit. It will make it real easy to find certain pinpoints, like does the trade go into profit, what is the average/max loss before turning up, etc.

I've looking almost everywhere, but I can't find the stop for Empty4.

I'm currently helping to tune the exits and drawdown problems of the DBM scalp EA and this could realy help us forward.

Hi Steve, dudest,

just to explain why.
I am trying to base the trading setups on the pair`s ADR which defines their SL and TP.
Since that varies from pair to pair that`s why I wondered if MPTM could manage it all at once as described above.
I didn`t stop thinking about it yesterday since I had a feeling the solution might not be so easily achieved.
I came up with this.
I rounded up near by ADRs and thus decreased the number of instances needed to around 6 or 7. I think simple enough and achievable too.
I was hoping to get a coder`s view on the matter and you and dudest gave it to me. It reassured me to work with MPTM as it stands and to rather simplify the conditions around it.
Will see how is that working on Monday.

thanks very much for the answers guys. :)

If I understand you right then your problem is not the question how to get the ADR computed for every pair to manage - Your problem is not to have a clue how to implement such a function to the mptm ;)

You can easily add SL-functions to MPTM (when you are able to code) ...

You just have to call them through ManageTrade(), have a look to the code, e.g.
if(JumpingStop) JumpingStopLoss();

Hi,

I didn`t mean to go that deep to be honest. I went the easier way here. The ADR is not changing as much so that is the fix number I have based my calculation of SL and TP on.
I was just wondering if one instance of MPTM could manage different pairs with different SL and TP numbers set.

thanks anyway

Hey tommiho,

If in your case ADR is synonymous with ATR, MPTM can set ATR-based SLs and TPs differently for each pair under watch.

Code: Select all

extern bool    UseSlAtr                      = false;
extern int     AtrSlPeriod                   = 20;
extern int     AtrSlTimeFrame                = 0;
extern double  AtrSlMultiplier               = 2;

Code: Select all

extern bool    UseTpAtr                      = false;
extern int     AtrTpPeriod                   = 20;
extern int     AtrTpTimeFrame                = 0;
extern double  AtrTpMultiplier               = 3;
Only the period, timeframe and multiplier will be fixed but this will evaluate to different ATR values on different pairs ( OrderSymbol() is used in the ATR formula ).

Cheers

Hi:

I am using the MPTM Global with Trailing Stops and the Percentage Tightening option. I have selected Manage all Pairs.

When I activate the EA, the dialog box shows the TP (pips) of the first trade and the computed pips (percentage of TP) for each of the four TS percentage levels. I was expecting to see the percentage of TP allocated to each of the four levels which is a generic for all trades instead of the pips for one trade.

In my case this would be:
1. 25% at the 25% level.
2. 15% at the 50% level.
3. 7% at the 75% level
4. and 4% at the 85% level.

May I assume that the EA will actually manage all the trades and that the dialog box is merely the info for the first trade?
