wow beautiful trading with BASA, shelley...

why am i not getting anything near this level of trading activity...im running on a global prime demo. in fact in the last couple weeks i have only had about three trades. running on ~ 20 pairs, H4 charts

would really like to be able to replicate some of these types of results ....

No trades on any of the demo's with MA stacking on...although I think there is definite benefits with using MA stacking, I think in it's current form it has made trading too restrictive. In my initial analysis of the benefits of MA stacking I only checked that the MA's were stacked in the correct order, rather than diverging away from each other, so moving forward we may need to revisit how we utilise this function best.

Taking a step back I think the issue here is fairly clear. The initial trade strategy is basically exploiting pull backs in a trend. So with a pull back the MA's are hardly ever going to be divergent. The divergent part should just be for the trade stacking - where it is a great idea imo.

I too am not seeing the same trading activity as Shelly is getting
However, make sure that MaxTradesAllowed is set to 5. The default is 1.
If you are set to 1, then the EA will not take any additional 'Stack trades'
I missed that in my setup. ( My demo is now configured the same as Shelly's DEMO #1 )

- trading 28 pairs using version 1t.
- only had 3 trades this week (most likely because my MaxTradesAllowed was set to 1):
1. EURAUD sell Sept 10 04:00
2. EURCAD sell Sept 10 04:00
3. EURNZD sell Sept 10 04:00
EURCAD and EURZND were stopped out at BE with a 2 pip profit and EURAUD is still in play.

BTW: Nice work Shelly and Steve. I really like this strategy

My Demo 1 has MA stacking turned off and Stack trades turned on...max trades allowed is 5
Demo 2b has MA stacking & stack trades turned off...so max trades allowed is 1

I think the MA stacking on the main & re-entry trades would provide enough entry's whilst filtering out most of the bad ones if implemented as per Andy's post below.
I have sent Steve a PM asking his opinion on if this can be coded in for main/re-entry trades and have the current MA stacking function for stack trades only. Not sure if it can be done and certainly don't want anything else to break because of it

This EA's strategy is similar to my Direct Trader EA, I have found the results are far better making sure the Ma's are higher/ lower than the last bar before entry.

• Moving Average Stacking inputs
  • useMaStackForMainTrade: turns MA stacking on/off for the Main (including Re-Entry) trade..
  • useMaStackForStackTrades: turns MA stacking on/off for the stack trades.
