Thanks Steve, your help is very much appreciated...I will update my EA's once I'm home from work tonight :D

New toy for you guys. http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 667#p75667

I mention it here in case it is of interest to you. Do not discuss it here - post your observations in the new thread, not here.

Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Hi Shelley,

The more I look at the stack trades the more I think that once stacked trades are taken then the trades in that stack should be treated as a mini "basket". Breakeven should be set on the "basket" and whatever trailing mechanism used should be treated as per MPBM.

When price really takes off the stacking works fine as it is, but too often the profit made in the main trade is given back by the stack trade or even worse the main trade makes it to 50+ pips, triggers the stack trade, the main trade is stopped out at BE+2 and the stack trade goes to hit whatever its stop loss is set at. So from being a >50 pip winner it goes to a significant loss. there are plenty of examples in your "Demo 1" history.

This might not be such a big issue when things start moving a bit better but it will always be an issue imo.

Cheers,
Dave.

Steve,

Would you mind taking a look at the chart below? I am testing a version of BASA using Stoch 4.2.2 and 1H RSI TMA however I do not seem to be getting any Main Entry Trades off the 1H RSI TMA even though there appears to be valid setups. I have attached my setfile in case I have made an error in my inputs!

The EA comments appear to be still be reading 4H RSI TMA levels.

I am running v1t...(I have MA stacking turned off & not using stack trades on this particular demo)

Trend is up yet CHF direction is down.

How is this a valid trade setup?

Sorry Steve...it is a valid set up by my rules, but just checking the chart again and I see I had UseCSS set to true (& showing a down trend) which prevented the EA taking this trade. I will continue to monitor now with CSS off.

Hi Steve, I just need some clarification about UseZeljko and OCTC;

Snipit from the manual;
UseZeljko: named after Zeljco who corrected the code for this filter and made it work. This filter ensures 'balanced' trading. The easiest way to describe it is to use hypothetical trades. Imagine that:
• this EA buys GBPUSD.
• this EA buys GBPJPY.
You are now heavily exposed to GBP. Something unexpected happens (and something unexpected always happens in Forex) and the pound plummets, dropping like a stone into the abyss. Both your trades scream into huge drawdown. To avoid this, having taken the GBPUSD trade, this EA will not buy another GBPxxx pair.

In this scenario, does this mean only if the GU trade stays in DD and doesn't turn back into profit? If somthing happens agian before the GU stop was hit and the pound rises, will "Stacking" then still be allowed to happen if GU gets back into profit?

Imagine instead that a Sell GBPJPY trade arises, just before the market
plummets. This time, your GU trade is screaming into the abyss, but your GJ trade
is going stratospheric. One trade 'balances' the other in the event of something
dramatic happening.

In this scenario, same sort of question above, will this setting still stop the GJ trade from stacking while in profit?

From the manual;
OnlyTradeCurrencyTwice: works in conjunction with UseZeljko. Again, imagine the above scenario nos 1 & 4. Now you have a GU Buy and a GJ sell open – perfectly balanced trades. If you now further trade any pair involving GBP, you will unbalance your trading again, leaving you exposed to unexpected events. This filter prevents a third trade being opened involving GBP.
◦ Note: both UseZeljco and OTCT work more deeply than the example I have just given. For example, now you have a GU buy open, balanced trading does not allow a further buy xxxUSD trade to open, only a sell xxxUSD – then OTCT kicks in again........... Got a headache yet?

Yes, I got a headache :) so if Zeljko does still allow a sell xxxUSD to offset the DD buy xxxUSD, so now we have two, does OTCT setting mean that even if the pair goes into profit, stacking trade 3, 4 trade will still not heppen?

No. Sorry, but the whole point of issuing a user guide is to keep me from having to answer questions that are answered in the UG. It took me a long time to prepare and I hated every second of doing so and I am not going to answer further questions about it. Others here had to draw their own conclusions based on the info provided. So do you.

If anyone else here:
  • understands the question.
  • can provide the answer.
  • include said answer in an .odt file that I can use to replace my User Guide. please feel free to post it here.

Folks, I am starting to get pissed off by some pretty stupid questions in my threads.

If this continues, I shall start getting a tad blunt in my replies.

Ok, no worries, I'll test it out and get back to you as I think it is very important to understand how exactly these options are supposed to work and that the EA itself may not reflect this correctly but I guess that's why we test and report back :)
