Hi Zen,zentauro67 wrote:Let´s hope re-entries could be available soon. Some big moves happen after a little consolidation pause (change of color) and without re-entries we could be missing the most profitable part of the trend. CJ´s ideas about the three impulses cycle suggets that in a healthy trend we could need two re-entries once the pivot has been crossed.
One of the weak points of this system are porcupines. PA scratching the dayly pivot in tight consolidation zones (CZ) can give some nasty entries. Maybe later someone could code an anti-porcupine filter. This will change the efficiency of the EA and could be the key to make it profitable.
Squalou´s boxes in 30M give a clear reading of the problem.
This is a 4H porcupine:
Zooming to 30M we see how the daily pivot is trapped in a CZ. This is the worst situation and trades should be disabled here.
Not having such a filter, we can think in a 13 pips buffer as alternative. But it´s a second-rate solution.
In the opposite side, when a daily pivot matches the boundaries of a 30M CZ, the cross is strengthened by the breakout effect.
Thanks again for your work and good luck!
(I used normal candles in the examples, just to see clearer the problem)
Thanks for your input.
Perhaps, you will work out the criteria for re-entries. Set them out as 1, 2, 3, etc. I am sure help will be forthcoming after the week end.
As for me, I like something very simple, like using pullback, which would be easy to implement. All those things you have mentioned, I do not know whether it would be possible to code or whether there will be any volunteers to code them for you.
Simplicity is the key to any trading strategy.
I will start a fresh demo on the latest update at market open until further developments happen. As I mentioned before, the ea in its present form would be viable.
Set the PivotBufferPips to whatever you think is appropriate. For my demo, I will use what Bob usually uses and that is 10 pips. Zen thinks you need 20 to 40 pips, try different settings and see what the outcomes are.
