I´m very glad to read this, thanks a lot for considering to add these new features! :D
Good idea, let´s "visual test" it this week first to see how they would have performed if they were taken into account in the trading decision.

Simple Bob Demos

Post by FXTrucker »

Here are links to my Demo accounts I stopped my original four and started two fresh ones with version 1e

Original demos that are inactive as of 9/29/13

Simple Bob SL 20
This stop loss appears to be to close. Pairs stopped out two or more times. It was the biggest loser.
I added Breakeven Settings. It still got hammered

Simple Bob SL 30 this demo ran two weeks. and was profitable.

Simple Bob SL 30 with MA Stacking on this got almost no trades and missed the valid MA Stacking trades of GBP pairs

Image

Simple Bob SL 40 with the breakeven settings in place this account broke even.

Active Demos Started on 9/29/13

Simple Bob v1e SL 30
MA Stacking : ON for all trades
Trade Stacking : ON 3 trades at 30pips BE profit 15 Stack Trail 15
Breakeven : ON @ 30 +2

Simple Bob v1e SL 40 MA Stacking : ON
Trade Stacking : ON 4 trades at 20pips BE profit 10 Stack Trail 10
Breakeven : ON @ 20 +2

After the first two weeks results and a four month visual back test that will be shared in another post, here are my first impressions and the reasoning behind my new demo settings

The profitability of this EA is entirely dependent on the win loss ratio. that win ratio did not occur on Thursday-Friday. I have become a big fan of the MA Stacking filter. The fact the EA with MA Stacking took much fewer trades so it had much fewer losers. The fact that it missed a valid trade may have been a glitch. Time will tell. One of the Demos ( 40SL ) had 3 valid MA Stack trades open already. The other had two trades on different pairs open in the same minute sooo..... I guess one of the EAs decided there was a rouge trade and closed both trades. :?

The breakeven and trailing stop loss turned the highest stop loss EA in to the best performer on Friday.

So I am now using the MA Stacking filter to limit trades. With the 40pip SL I am adding tighter BE settings and stack trade settings so the full 85 pip winners will be bigger to offset the bigger SL losers.

Visual Back test

Post by FXTrucker »

I spent some time this weekend making a quick visual back test with EURJPY to get an idea of how this EA might have performed over the past few months. I also thought that it might be useful for discussion and brain storming improvements. I assumed that MA Stacking was on and that the SL was about 50 pips which is where the dotted lines are. I marked and numbered what looked like winning and losing trades. Here is what I saw:
7-1 to 8-2.png
8-2 to 9-2.png
9-2 to9-26.png
I came up with 14 trades in 13 weeks 7 win and 7 lose. This assumes that the initial stops are big enough to avoid getting stopped out.

There were several periods of from one to three weeks without a trade.

Often price would rise by about 100pips before the trade was opened.

6 of 7 wins were probably followed by a loss because price action pushed through the next xxx.000 and I assume it would have triggered a losing trade as price retraced. 5 of the six losers retraced back more than 100pips. I wonder if there is a way to turn these losers into winners?

It looks like the best we can get is a 50% win ratio. If the main trade gets stopped because the SL is to tight an average of once per winning trade (which seems to be happening with 30 and 40 pip SL ) the ratio drops to 33% which still wins at a RR of 3:1. More hits lead the system to overall break even or loss .

Using break even settings and trailing or jumping stops look like they can help reduce the number of losing trades, but they also reduce the number of full winners.

Stacking trades may significantly improve the winning trades size, offsetting the initial losses

Any comments or suggestions?

Here is the visual back test with weekly pivots (orange), Daily pivots (yellow), MA 60 (dotted white line), and xxx.050 (dotted blue lines).

Looking at the XXX.050 lines below the trade entries I marked: Trades 1,8, 12 and 14 could have been entered 50 pips early with little hesitation at the entry and ridden for 135pips.

I use this robot as a basket trader. Lot size is 1% of balance and MPTM is set to close basket when 3% is reached. So far this approach works.

I seem to get this error again and again, and don't know why.
Can anyone help?

Hi Matt,

maybe you should try different Magicnumbers for each pair..

Cheers :)
