Bob and Shelley Again

I wonder if anyone has tried applying 10.x logic to commodity markets??

EDSEL does fine on CL and GC and S. Also on YM.

Have not tried it on any other market.

Trade-with-the-trend aka Bob might have worked well in that old commodity environment. These days though, the commodities don't trend as well as they used to, so even Bob's approach might not work. I wonder if anyone has tried applying 10.x logic to commodity markets??

I am trying the following using Shelly's live BASA settings on DEMO. Some of the stock indices trended well at times throughout the year.

XAGUSD, XAUUSD, HK40, DE30, ND, AUS200, STOXX50, UK100, JP225, S&P500, DJ, OIL.X3, GAS, HO, Wheat, Corn, Soybean, Sugar, Coffee

Trades taken so far this week.

V 2f is in post 1. I realised today that we can have part-close of risk-based lot sizes by using the order comment field. Brokers change the comment field if we close part of a trade, so BASA knows it can close the required part of the trade if this field contains either the main or reentry trade comment.

You do not need the update if you are not wanting to part-close risk based lot trades.

Make sure the code works on demo before using this on your live accounts.

A little note about the difference between broker feeds. Remember, this is a strategy that trades at the open of a new H4 candle.

My Cowboy IBFX (gmt, I think) play account took a chfjpy buy at 12.00 broker time on the 14th Oct. At 19.56 the same day, half the trade closed and the stop moved to BE. The leftover closed at 9.00 the following day after the market tanked.

By comparison, my GP (gmt + 3) took the trade 2 (3? don't know) hours later and so missed the move upwards that allowed the lock in of profits that the Cowboy IBFX account caught. Two days later, the trade is still grunging around. It has been up a bit, then down not far above my stop loss - and costing me swap.

What a difference a couple of hours makes.

Hehe. I expect people to be able to work out for themselves whether their lot size allows part-closure. If they cannot even do that for themselves they are in real trouble trying to trade Forex.

Nice spot Tommaso. It is left-over code from the conversion from MTPM. Variousfurther conversions have taken the function still further away and the code will not work - even MPTM's code is radically different now. It could probably be made to work but I cannot be bothered.

Only one pair(audcad) traded today (out of 20 pairs following)...closed half at +30 pips, and the rest is up +47pips at breakeven+2...looking good so far!
