Well I do not do it now, but I was thinking about it. I dont know any breakout strategy that would do it, but it could help.phil_trade wrote:Could you confirm one thing : Do you delete Pending Sell when First Pending Buy is converted to BUY and vice versa ?

Re: Brakeout of the monday's night
Awesome results, thank you for your arrangements, I love it. Do I understand correctly, that you didnt take any profit at TP1 and TP2, just closed all at TP3?garyfritz wrote:I'm still experimenting with this, but it looks good!
I made some minor changes to the rules:
* Instead of using a fixed 10-pip (or whatever) Buffer, I used a percentage of the bar's H-L range. That lets it adapt to changes in volatility. (I'm also experimenting with using ATR instead of a single bar's range.)
* When market hits TP1, move SL to entry +/- Buffer (so it takes a Buffer of profit instead of just BE).
* I leave the Sell order open when the Buy is hit, and vice-versa. So I can buy once and sell once per week.
* I'm currently just exiting at TP3 or the SL.
So there are probably improvements to be made. With that simple definition, here are all the JPY pairs going back to 2007:
The heavy red line is the average of all 7 pairs. Here's the same in a table summary:
So it's averaged over $1000 per pair, per year, for 6 of the last 7 years. 2010 was a loser. If you traded 0.1 lot for each pair, you'd have made nearly $10k per year for the last 3 years, $56k total in the last 7.
That ain't half bad.

Re: Brakeout of the monday's night
Hi Gary and Michal
After some bug correction and rules adaptation, I confirm for XAUUSD from 01/2009 to 09/2013 :
1 - Better result if you keep Pending Sell when Pending Buy is hit and vice versa
2 - I have introduce a TP Multiplier that put TP1 at ZoneBox( High - Low) * Multiplier ( same for TP2 and TP3 ) cause with basics rules, TP gains are not enough to cover SL losses.
With TP Multiplier = 2 for example, Lot = 0.10 : Profit = +19.7 K$ with Profit Factor 1.30 which is not enough. There is still too much losses !
Profit = +84.8 K$
Loss = -65.1 K$
Not bad, but needed some improvement
edit : I have set a parameter "Hour of London Session", and I have different result for Gold and EURJPY
Gold = 8
EURJPY = 7
cheers

Thanks again, I cant even say how thankful I am. I believe that with some improvements, we can make this simple strategy working with solid results.
I have one idea : what if we set some size of range that is too much for setting the trade. For example lets say that zone must have range at most 200 pips, when it is bigger, we wont trade it. I am not saying 200 pips is that correct number it will probably vary, but might work as a good filter....
Thanks Phil

I had the same Idea. For too big Zone and too small Zone. Will test it this evening.michalkraus wrote:phil_trade wrote:Hi Gary and Michal

Re: Brakeout of the monday's night
First Benchmark and trades analysis for Gold + EURJPY
too much drawdown in 08/10 - 11/10 period... but quite good no !
Trades are splitted in 3 TP and . Magic Number _1 / _20 / 30
+158 K$ gain and -118 K$ loss.... some improvment could be done !
Cheers

Re: Brakeout of the monday's night
Good morning guys, I have a question : Do you guys use Forextester for tick test? If so, what does FT allow, I mean can you create a strategy in it or you can only upload an EA in MQL and test?
Thx
Anyways Gary and Phil have you run any tests?
SO far this week, my USD/JPY hit TP3 (buy), Gold hit TPs1 for buy and sell, GBP/JPY hit SL for buy and TP1 for sell (almost TP2), EUR/JPY 2 SLs
Thx

1 - With FT, you have to write your strategy in Delphi or C#. Best improvement is debugger and multi-pairs back testing. When your strategy is profitable, you have to re write it in MQL, or as me, in Windev with an Empty4 API to drive multiple instance of Empty4. Other interesting feature is the possibility to re run your Empty4 trades (just export report statement) and refine your SL/TP while past trades are running ! Good for manual traders !
2 - I still refine the strategy, but quite good results even with €/$ ! The code is so simple that it will be easy to translate it in MQL. I hope I can test in LIVE on a micro account with a special Windev version next week.
cheers

Thank for quick response, I am also willing to test it on the live account. Too bad I cant write even the simpliest code on the planet

Re: Brakeout of the monday's night
I'm very busy the next few weeks so I won't be testing it in a demo or live account yet, but I'll keep experimenting with my implementation.
Michal, I use Tradestation. Philippe, interesting that you got good results with EURUSD! I haven't had a chance to try anything but JPY pairs, but I pulled up a quick chart of EURUSD and it was not impressive. Other than a 5-month spurt in 2010, it's gone sideways-to-down since 2007. We should compare notes.
