Hello George,

could it be the spread? your indicator does it factor in the spread?
best regards.

i still have this issue that the P/L values in the indicator and the P/L Values of the open trades don't match exactly. They are closer now but they don't match.

Is the core account currency a problem ? I usualy run my account in Euro, but have tried to run it in Dollars too. Same problem. In the screenshot my account currency is US dollars and the values are still different.
Can you compare the price you entered at and the open of the 4:30 bar to see if that accounts for the difference? I am simulating taking the trade exactly on the open of the 4:30 bar.

George, yes i openend the trades at 4:30 and 25 seconds. Thats the difference perhaps. Will try and open the next basket exactly on a candle open and compare again.

Do you include the spread in your indicator too ?

thanks

I include the spread, but I have no way to know what the spread was really at that time, so you'll likely never get the exact same results.

George, suggestion: one thing that's always bothered me about this indicator is that it's a snapshot. It tells you the situation NOW but not how it got there.

Maybe people who actually trade this thing  will think I'm crazy, but... what if you added a "history" plot to the display? I'm thinking something like this:
PBhistory.gif
....etc -- I've only filled in a few of the lines. The lines show the profit amounts in the past.

So this lets you see where things are NOW, AND how they got there. In this case the red (GBPJPY) is on the bottom, but that's because of its past movement. Its recent movement has been UP, meaning it's heading the wrong way now. It probably won't be on the bottom for long, but you can't see that from the standard text indicator. Meanwhile GBPUSD (the green line) is way back in the pack, but actually it's the fastest-moving pair.

(Edit: I changed the pairs indicator to reflect a more current version, and realized too late that the buy/sell direction of the pairs no longer made sense with the lines I drew. Please ignore that and just look at the concept of the lines. E.g. pretend the red line is a SELL pair, so it made lots of money as it moved down, but now it's moving up so it's losing profit.)

Does anybody think that would be useful? And if so, George, will you kill me for suggesting it??

Hello George,

is it possible to have an option to show the win/loss in terms of pips instead of dollars and cents?

Thank you and Best regards.

Unfortunately we only get 8 lines to draw with in a custom indicator. I could plot points manually, I suppose, but that would be a lot of objects and that seems to slow Empty4 down. I'll do some testing and see.

I was also thinking of having the indicator have two time frames defined so you can see how the order changed since the first snapshot.

Hi George,

Not too sure if that can help you, but you can have a look to Hanover's recent strenght indi.

The indi saves the data into a csv file, then the indi reads the data from this csv file and outputs the graph lines.

Have a look to the snapshot at the bottom at the page here : http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... f=31&t=335

George, it seems like the pairs of most interest would not be the top/bottom pairs, but the pairs that are moving the fastest. So e.g. in my illustration the green and red lines are interesting, and the orange one is not.

So could you pick the 8 current fastest-moving pairs, and draw lines for those?

If you really wanted all 14 lines, maybe you could combine two indicators. But I would think the 8 best movers would be plenty.

garyfritz, the middle line purpose is as follows:

1. the ideal case is that either all the buys or all the sells are at the bottom (or top)
2. Once the top currencies start crossing the middle line (or vice versa), this is an indication that a reverse in direction is in the making...

Please leave the line where it is.....

Oh, I'm not suggesting changing or removing anything. I'd just like to *add* the additional information of the history. I just made the mistake of grabbing an old screen shot for my illustration. Corrected in my post above.
