This is something I like to avoid. In the enclosed chart, a long trade was triggered at the open of the aqua vertical line, almost immediately, price dropped like a rock because of the whipsaw of the NFP release. If we gave it 15 minutes, the trade would not be triggered. I have noted a few occasions of this situation although the fluctuations were not that profound.

I am stopping this now. This looks suspiciously like me chasing the latest whim you want me to code. That whim could be diametrically opposed to the whim you expressed 5 minutes ago. I do not play that game.

I have offered up some pretty useful stuff up here already. Use it or not as you please. I am adding nothing further unless it is to advance the cause of the ea's I have placed in the zip file.

Hi Steve, I agree totally with you that the EA's you've offered are very useful in helping us to trade Bob's system. I think the request I make above is just some improvement to the Flexible Stoch ea's that might be incorporated into your other Stoch Ea's as well.

Of course, I respect your view that this request does not worth the trouble and decide not to consider it.

FWIW, I ignore news announcements apart from NFP. It is rare these days for any of them to cause the kind of spike that used to occur, and that has led to this kind of folk-memory that trading during a news release is a bad idea. I will be one of the first to know when this changes again.

What I do not want to risk is one of the ea's sending a trade in the period before the markets slow to a crawl in the few hours before nfp, the having it caught by a spike in the wrong direction.

Hi Steve, I agree totally with you that the EA's you've offered are very useful in helping us to trade Bob's system. I think the request I make above is just some improvement to the Flexible Stoch ea's that might be incorporated into your other Stoch Ea's as well.

Of course, I respect your view that this request does not worth the trouble and decide not to consider it.

Good news. I had a productive bath this morning.

I realised that I had missed the point of what you wanted and that the code amendment is quick and easy to make. The latest versions in post 1 will now compare the close of candle shift 1 with that of candle shift 2 if EveryTickMode is false. If true, it compares <now> with the close of candle shift 1.

Hope this better meets your needs.

Latest version of the helper EA's zip is in post 1.

I found a dangerous bug in the four Stochastic EA's that will close sells following a reload of the Sell ea's and you are using either of the moving average recross features - guess how I discovered there is this bug. Cost me 70 live pips on a trade that would have recovered and come out with a handsome profit.

Coders, save yourselves a download and unzip exercise. All that is needed is a tiny reordering of a function call in int init():

• go to line 559 wich should be ReadIndicatorValues(); Delete this line of code.
• scroll up to line 466 which should be CountOpenTrades();
• replace the ReadIndicatorValues(); above CountOpenTrades();

then recompile.

The code snippet should look like this:

For fledgling coders trying to delve under the bonnet:

• CountOpenTrades() iterates through the open orders list and fills the variables that the my ea' what trades are open, their condition, how many etc. It also calls the individual trade management featurs, including the call to LookForTradeClosure() - this examines the indi values and closes the trade if the closure criteria are met.
• ReadIndicatorValues() holds the calls to any indicators used by the EA - in this case Stochastic and Moving Averages. Clearly this function should be called before CountOpenTrades() or some vital variables migh be = 0, which is why the sell trades were closing on a restart.

One thing that you need to learn about me is that I cannot stand reading questions about stuff I have addressed in earlier posts. This implies that you cannot be arsed to read the posts of the Forum Owner. In case you have not noticed, that is me. Well, nominally at least. Given the financial contributions here lately, maybe nominally is the best I can do. Ah well, moving on in titular ownership at least.
