Now the eur and chf. As long as the SNB keeps tied to the EURO they are basically one and the same. Watch out if SNB decides to decouple if the things go really bad. However, I am not in the camp of worse case scenario at least not yet. The Europeans have been around the block over the centuries and they can take a hit quite well and they scramble well. However, there are some serious warning signs.
As I posted earlier France now can tax its richest citizens at a 75% tax rate if you make over 1 million a year. Desperate times make for desperate measures. In the USA if we ever passed a 75% tax rate it would probably cause a civil war. As John Maudin has pointed out in several letters that France's banking system is way over committed in loans to sovereign debt to many countries, there will be a time when these will come home to cause some real trouble. That time could be early 2014. The oldest bank in Europe located in Italy is about to be nationalized because it is insolvent. It seems to be time for another EURO debt crisis again. This has to come because the last two times they kicked the can down the road and the they have reached the can again. The first time the completely redid Greek loans and wrote off some of it. The second time they took some of the Cyprus gold and depositor's money. This time they will .................. well France passed a 75% income tax, they lowered their interest rate (and the EURO went up). I suspect the downward pressure on the EURO will start in Jan but it may not. The EURO scrambles very well. Anyway when it starts to dive, jump on in and enjoy the ride. Who knows they may come up with a solution (??? really ??) at least good enough to calm the markets. I will be looking for sell opportunities when they happen. The end of the year spike maybe the top and its down from there. That is my suspicion but we will see. I will be curious to see which pair will depreciate more the euro or the jpy early in 2014. I have no idea which one will win. My best guess will be the JPY. If they are equal then the eur/jpy and cfh/jpy will range and probably be very volatile. eur/usd, eur/gbp, eur/cad, eur/nzd should go down. eur/aud, I have no idea, depends if the AUD keeps going down or not. If it stops then sell the eur/aud also.

Will be interesting to see how accurate I am by March. I have never tried this before so see how it goes. Anyway the 240 and 60 lines will let you know how it goes. Have a happy 2014.

Let's say I have a 5000$ account. I open a 0.01 lot EURUSD position (which is the minimum), and it moves 10 pips. Then my account moves 1 USD. That is 20 cents to 1000 USD, right? For 1 pip it is 2 cents, so I comply with Bob's rule, do I?
If you are trading .01 and it moves 10 pips to equal 1.00 then you are trading 10 cents a pip. If you have 5000 dollars in your account then you are trading 2 cents for every 1000 you have in your account. This is a very conservative and safe way to trade. If you have a bad day, week, or month, you live to trade another day. This is not a quick rich scheme but a solid investment plan. In the last two months I have increased my account by almost 18% trading closer to 3 or 4 cents per thousand. Those are my goals and my parameters. Others use a different MM and have bigger gains that I do but I also cant sit by my computer all day either. There is no shame in having a 5% profit in a month. That is better than banks give in a year. There is no shame in losing 5% in a month either. You live to trade another day.
Hi Bob,

I think it takes a lot of discipline to trade such small amounts.
The newbie trader would probably want to go for big lots and big hits, then risk loosing their shirt in short amount of time.
Hats off to you.

couple questions hoping someone can advise on:

1) trying to customize my screen and like Bob's old Market Info indicator, but the text is all over the place (See pic). Went into edit objects and tried to repo the text, but it resets after a couple of seconds back to being way out of the box. any ideas how to put it back where it belongs?

2) can't find current dashboard for 10.6 edsel - I looked back through last 30 pages but don't see it. I see the market calculator for ranges of diff time frames, but not a proper Edsel dash. If someone can point the way, greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

You need to refresh the screen. The easiest way is to just click a different TF and come back or wait until the program/screen refreshes itself.

I dont post a dashboard and rarely use them. The STO7 signal is good enough for me to go check and I like studying my screens to see what price action is doing.
Thanks for reply Bob. refreshed screen several times, restarted platform, still no luck. looks the same. any other ideas from the bleachers?

I know you're not a fan of the dashboard, but thought somebody else had posted one in recent weeks, but can't find it now. Maybe I was dreaming.

Thanks,

FF

Hi Bob, Hello Steve and everyone,
I am back after 9 mths break from forex :). And alot has developed so far, missed 10.5 and now 10.6. Took me a week to catch up with 10.6 and 10.4new and loving it. Went live yesterday Japan session and took 6 wins 2 losses by mid-US session 0.38% gain. I didn't want to hold the trades over the New Year holidays. So I am truly looking forward to 2014.
Thank you so very much for such great systems that we can win.
Sincerely yours
huh

Hi Everyone, all the best for the New Year.

Bob & Steve, thanks to you... :cheer: I am optimistic that I may actually have my first month with black ink...

Bob, thanks for the concise thoughts above. Not everyone can look at the "whole" big picture and put it down in words...and as we have seen so far in your threads, you are pretty accurate, so, I will be using that to assist in my trading decisions, along with the trend following system that you have so kindly given us. (I am concentrating on mastering 10.4 before looking at 10.6)

You have, selflessly, given much. thanks

I mentioned earlier that I found the usd/cad hard to trade. Here is a picture why as it bounced up and down in a 5 cent range all year. 5 cents is about 500 pips so it is not running much right now. In fact it has stayed in this range for about 5 years now. So .............. see what happens this year. Not a strong trending pair because the Cad is tied strongly economically with the USA and its economy will follow USA economy. However if it breaks north of 1.0750 it could run a bit with a stronger USA economy picking up.

I made a mistake in the pic it should say aug. 2009

What, what, what is going on with the EUR and JPY?????

It must be a personal thing :yahoo: as soon as I close the EUR USD short at BE, the dang thing drops like a rock, and as soon as I add to positions on my JPY pairs, the JPY gets a shot of 'roids and heads for the stars...

Ho-hum...

400 pips wiped in one session...perhaps this is where I learn PATIENCE??? :uff:
