If all goes well how many additional positions would you normally run ? ..its a great strat for a trending pair like this when it moves.. :)

Good question. It all depends on my where I am with my risk and money management guidelines... I will usually add new positions on a retrace where in a strong trending market I use the 5 minute chart price action. When price retraces close to the HA line or even touched it I will add another position but in a slower moving market I will wait for the 15 minute HA line to be touched or come close... The last place I will add is at the 30 minute HA line with stops above it...

Also I look at how steeply price is moving as well as volatility...

Now price has come back down very quickly... If it goes further down then I will close the position for a small profit. This can happen quite a few times but when it continues on the trend then you make a lot of pips...

Now price has done a big retrace and my position was closed for a very small profit. This can happen several times before catching the wave that will take you better profits.

Will see what happens later on this evening and plan for the next position.... Patience :)

Good morning,

Looking at the hourly chart I see that the bias is still bearish. I did open a couple of times bullish positions off of the 30 minute chart but they were taken out with the larger bearish retrace. I sometimes get ahead of myself with this pair but if after a few tries I then take a back seat and wait for the hourly chart to reflect a change in bias to the upside. It is good to wait like 2 bars to close BLUE to help confirm the change. As you show with yesterday spike up on the hourly it did not close even 1 bar BLUE before coming back down. This is a major rule for me when not to add additional positions. If the 1 hour does not reflect my main trade then I should be very careful to add further positions...

The 4 hour and 1 hour bias are bearish so I should be opening short positions but this is not the beginning of the swing so I will wait for the change on the 1 hour to start my longs and increase them dramatically when the 4 hour HA turns BLUE as well.

The downside to this wait is the move downwards continues and I lose out on making pips... :)

There is an indi which will display the pair/time frame on a chart, called Display Symbol and Timeframe. Can be set to any position on the chart. Thought it might help.

In my use it does not always update.

Good morning...GBP/JPY update

Looking at today's 4 hour and 1 hour chart I see we have a new swing to the upside. On the 4 hour chart price action is at a level that if sustain can show a new longer-term uptrend but I would like to see a close above the 172.250 level with at least 2 BLUE bars.

Because we are the 4 hour HA level with a good possibility of price staying bullish if 172.25 level becomes a support area I will leave my initial position on the table and add to it...

This is the 4 hour chart.

1 hour chart showing a nice upswing....
