The first trade for today closed with $22.50 in profit
(Still using ver.Bmod. with lotsize 0.1) From now I'll try it OOTB...

Hey Dudest.... Nice looking EA. Live testing this baby (Version c) on a small account, looks very promising......
Have you seen enough of version D to know if it is working as intended ? I like the logic you previously outlined for the counter trend TP's at half way during trending periods.
Lastly, with a smallish range over the last few days, I have not seen any stack trades taken as yet. My own experience of stack trades usually sees me giving back profits earned on the primary trade. Just for info, is there a way of totally disabling stack trades should you choose to do so ?

Re: TMA_CG: EA to buy at support & sell at resistance
Hi peeps,
Update: I'm caught in a strait.
There are essentially two ways to make money with an EA (very generally):
--> EITHER have more winners than losers ( quantity-wise ) [ esp if the average winner is equal to or less than the SL ]
--> OR have high R:R trades ( esp when the quantity of losers is equal to or greater than winners ) [ ensures that the winners cover for the losses + leave profit on top ]
This EA's concept essentially puts it in the latter class. Makes good on the swings, goes through a bit of DD (e.g 20%-40%) and more or less comes out +ve in the end.
After observing "D" on Thur and Fri last week, it seems it may be tending towards the former.
I like both versions to be honest ( they are, after all, my handiwork ). I've even fancied running both side by side ( and halving the risk on each ).
However, in order to gain a better understanding first ( esp of "D" ), I'm running two tests side-by-side:
1) Version "C_beta" --> essentially version "C" with the following important changes:
---> Slope is no longer being checked before taking a trade; simply takes trades on the boundaries.
---> Only 1 trade per side of the swing. A short must first have been preceded by a long, and vice-versa. Prevents a sequence of losses when price is trending.
---> After analysing MAE stats on MyFxBook, have set the SL to 20pips (from 30pips). Even 15pips would have been OK, but I like having buffers
2) Version "D"
---> Checks slope and uses the middle band to take / manage trades depending on the slope value ( at least, that the general idea ). The implementation is slightly different from what I laid out earlier ( that was a draft ), but seems to have worked as intended.
---> Also, based on MAE, the SL has been set to 20pips (from 30 pips)

Re: TMA_CG: EA to buy at support & sell at resistance
Thought for the week:
The point of trading is to make money, not to make perfect trades.
[ $200 from a 'dirty' trade is just as good as $200 from a 'perfect' trade ]

Re: TMA_CG: EA to buy at support & sell at resistance
Hi Dudest
I have decided to take a slightly different approach.
I have altered TMACG vd by:
Turning off stacking
Enter trades at the outer band within 10 pips (not 20)
TP always at the MiddleBand.
Slope <0.2 (might have to relax this a bit)
Have reset stop to 20 after reading your last few posts
Visual evidence suggests these will have high % of winners but pips not that huge – probably less than 25. But with stop now at 20 that should be OK
Will report back towards end of the week.
Keep up the great work.
Allan

I'm testing the no stacking version.
On several currencies a second trade was opened some minutes later after the first one but at about the same price in the same direction. Did I misunderstand something or is this the way it is supposed to be?
Thanks

Hey Peter, when you say "on several currencies", what currencies are you running it on? It's designed for Goldpete14 » Mon Jan 20, 2014 1:53 pm wrote: hi dudest,
