Nice looking EA Dudest thanks for sharing - I will give it a try. I will test the one listed in page one - TMACG_Gold_M15_STACKING_C.mq4 for now. I have seen the version D etc posted later but I presume the version C gold one is best to start with.

It looks very impressive and I like the concept a lot. Only one comment for now from reading the thread and that is regarding SL distance. As you mentioned somewhere along the way the volatility of Gold has been less since it hit the $1200 level but it will likely increase. You are looking at reducing the SL distance from looking at the MAE stats but it seems to me (regardless of EA/strategy actually) that using the ATR is a far better way of setting SL distance than a fixed value simple because of the difficulty of manually "eyeballing" volatility change. For example if trading M15 I would look at something like 200% of M15 ATR over the last 360 periods (this allows some smoothing Vs the "usual" 14 periods).

I am not suggesting implementing this right now but it is a thought for consideration & something I will keep an eye on. Perhaps even more important if trading your EA with multiple currencies Vs just GOLD, as having a fixed SL for all currency pairs then makes less sense and would be challenging to keep up to date.

Cheers,
Dave.

Hey Dave :), great to have you on here!

Thanks for the valuable advice, you raise a fair point! [ and you are right, hard values won't adapt to volatility changes ]

Ver C actually began with an ATR SL and JumpingStop, but reverted it back to fixed values (don't exactly remember why). Now that you've brought it up [ don't believe in coincidence :) ], I will look into it again, and implement it.

Lemme know how the testing goes.

Cheers mate!

So without further ado, please find below the culmination of our efforts thus far: version C_beta

Gold:
TMACG_Gold_M15_STACKING_C_beta.mq4
Currencies:
TMACG_Currencies_M15_STACKING_C_beta.mq4
[ EAs also uploaded to Post #1 ]

Change-log:
a) Conforms ( and performs ) best as per the concept in my mind
b) Param to allow / disallow Stacking [ AllowStacking, default = true ]
c) Param to choose opposite or mid-band TP'ing [ TP_At_Opposite_Band, default = true ]
d) ATR-based JumpingStop and StopLoss [ 2000 periods, slightly more than 1 trading month ]
e) ATR-based TP buffer [ 2000 periods ] that is halved when TP'ing at mid-band
f) ALOT of bug-fixes in pre-existing logic

Note: Currency version is made for the usual 4/5-digit pairs. My intention is to use it with the highly volatile pairs, i.e GBPNZD, GBPAUD, GBPCHF, GBPCAD. It will NOT work with the YENS (and other 2/3-digit pairs).

>> Helpful feedback is greatly appreciated. Also to let you know that (all factors constant), these are the versions I will be trading LIVE.

Enjoy!

Hi dudest - I think you have missed out the setting of StopLossPips in the currency version - it is commented out so never gets set. Then again I can't code for **** :uff:

Dave.

Looks good dudest - thanks. :good:

This is a simple way to allow xJPY pairs to work too - just put somewhere in start()

Code: Select all

if (StringFind(Symbol(),"JPY",0) != -1)
    {
    PFactor = 100;
    }
"Borrowed" this from an indicator.

Cheers,
Dave.
